In this post I will give Idea's for a patrol overhaul. Patrol doesn't get much love as there isn't much to do in it, but I hope to bring change. Chest tiers and rarity: At the current moment we have two types of chests in patrol. Gold ( 1 time use ), and white. White chest are balanced but we should have more than just two types. Some of these chests are really hidden well and you get almost nothing from them, but I have a few idea's. White chests ( Planet specific materials, glimmer, rare chance at a blue engram or rare materials ), Blue chests ( more planet specific materials along with a good chance at rare materials, more glimmer, and a blue engram with a very rare chance to get a Purple engram ), New gold chests ( Even more planet specific materials along with more rare materials and a good chance to get legendary materials, four blue engrams or an purple engram with a super rare chance at getting a exotic engram ), Platinum chests ( same thing as the old gold chests ). New optional area to explore along with interesting things to find there. There should been completely optional areas to explore, It would also be cool to have the area tell a story. My example is at a section of twilight gap. When exploring the area you find titan and hunter armor pieces littering the ground along with spider tanks from different houses of fallen and a crashed skiff. Even if your new to the game you can tell that some sort of big battle happened here, but a veteran would know of the battle for twilight gap that united the fallen houses. Public events: We all know how most of the public events work, it takes place in one area and on one server. Now those should stay but I have an idea for one on a much bigger scale ( on a side note most of this could probably only be done on Next gen ). A world event. I will be using the Cosmodrome as a example here as its my favorite place to patrol and it will be about a fallen invasion. When a world event starts every one in the Cosmodrome will be alerted, a new area opens ( which only opens during a world event ). A fallen ketch has landed and fallen are flooding out of it. You will need a lot of help to clear the fallen form the area and take out its baron. I will make an edit to this post going over stuff such as the rewards for the world events and how rare the chests are but for right now I have stuff to do.

6 RespuestasI want patrols with hardcore sections ( or a separate patrol entirely, icon and all ) where, the enemies are nightfall level and its difficult enough to where you have to pick and choose your fights. Imagine a massive area where you constantly have to try to find the best possible routes through, so you don't die. Along with that, Bungie would often and I mean OFTEN update it so that the enemy placements are different to counter the paths and methods that the playerbase had discovered. Also, there would be strike level bosses that would frequently change position and alternate. Even if they're just reskins of other bosses in the game. That way, one week Cabal control mars, but the next the Vex have pushed them back. And they could have the diverse chests like you said. Also max fireteam of three just like normal patrol. I'm not sure how it would work with other fireteams going through the area. I guess it could be cool, teaming up and taking down bosses, kinda like Court of Oryx. I hope,hope,hope Destiny 2 does something like this, I can just imagine the hours I would put into it. I guess i'm a sucker for high risk, high reward gameplay. Your thoughts/ opinions?

You mentioned it in your post; a big reason they are so chained to the current format is the fact that they are stringing along current gen. Once they leave behind the older consoles they will have the ability to do a lot more with the open world. I'd like to hear more about your ideas for what you termed "world event." It's very intriguing. Do you have any specific encounters in mind? How would you expand the lore of each area? Would there be cutscenes or ghost scans that you could make that would reveal facts about the world? They kind of did that on the Dreadnaught but it got kind of stale. I think it was a step in the right direction. I'm really interested. I like patrol, and making it more fulfilling would go a long way toward increasing the immersion of the game.

1 RespuestaI'm a chest hunter. When others were doing loot caves, I was hunting chest. And I commend you for this awesome idea. I'd also love to see some crazy public events too. Almost unreal scale. If there is more than 2 or 3 guardians in an area, have tons of tanks or turrets to fight off ships.

For that event I'll take two Stormcallers with Light Beyond Nemesis and just have them trade supers. Easiest world event ever. =-D

2 RespuestasAdd a consumable item, that makes us an ally of the darkness in patrol for a certain amount of time, you can kill guardians for fun, and they can kill you for rewards based on how many you killed ;) be a fun passtime, plus patrol feels a bit to safe, but if a player could kill you then that would be more interesting

2 RespuestasDid you ever hear the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise? It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create...life. He had such a knowledge of the Dark Side, he could even keep the ones he cared about...from dying. He became so powerful, the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power...which, eventually of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew. Then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death...but not himself.

ALSO: add a pvp switch to toggle pvp on and off in patrol areas! If it's on you can deal damage and take damage from other players that have the switch toggled on, otherwise set it off an you can't take any damage from them. Obviously needs some work but I think it could be a great addition to patrols! I mean, who wouldn't want to go into the dreadnaught with a fire team and play hide and go seek?

I support this message. Most fun I've had in a while is when I had a Fallen Tank and Taken Zealot spawn together outside the Archon Cave on Venus patrol. I actually died cause I was hacking at both of them with a sword but it was a lot of fun.

2 RespuestasI think another cool event would be if there was a temporary guardian base set up, this base would consume some of the robots seen around the tower and a random generated guardian ai. You can chose to help them fight a heavily fortified fallen/cabal/vex/hive position and kill the commander of the enemy. You could also do a defend one where you have to hold a position against a relentless assault until reinforcements arrive.

House of Wolves and Dark Below were good for patrol. I'd like to see more guardians out in the wild again as well. Bringing back sparrow racing would also be a good stopgap.

Maybe more like fallout 4? I'll be happy to just get a court of oryx type of addition to each planet.
