As a year one warlock.

I have played since the start. This nerf coming to locks is a sign of new players and unskilled players screwing up a game. I have played sunsinger from the jump. I remember when it was a novelty to see another singer in crucible. I have never really used fire bolts. I'm a fusion guy myself. Congrats nerf herders you got it!

  • Finally someone who doesn't use firebolts! I was also a year 1 warlock, and people didn't complain as much as now.

  • How about we all just shut the hell up with this sense of entitlement you guys have no right to? I'm a Year 1 Guardian. It's obvious what this Community can do to the game. Nonetheless, the majority that complains is always the same people who can't adapt and overcome. But.. time and variety is always going to be elements to keeping this horse alive. It's getting stale with the same META every time and I think the team knows that. However, some of these changes will bring harsh reactions. It's just how things are.

    • Bump. These new players and nerf herders don't get it. Nerfs have destroyed this game and continue to do so.

      • Remember when Year 1 titans had to put up with the worst supers in the game. Then TTK comes and BEHOLD, the mighty Sunbreaker comes. Us titans finally get an offensive super, just like Warlocks, and Hunters. But no, after 1-2 months, they were nerfed to the ground. Now when Warlocks are getting looked at, it apperently is so bad.

            • Just watched the stream. There honestly is not alot of changes being made to warlocks. Sunsingers will be fine with some insane firebolt action. Voidwalkers got a buff in energy drain. And stormcaller landfall can't break a Titan bubble. Let the warlock master race live on!

              • They do need a nerf, and no I am not a year two player or an unskilled player (top 1% check Titan kd in skirmish and salvage). They simply are too powerful, I mained warlock all of year 1 and half of year two. I was on the op grenade band-wagon before it was cool. Taking a firebolt and hitting one shot to guarantee a kill is not what they should be.

Also, I like how we're nerf herders even though they still -blam!-ing babied your nerfs like crazy, but when Titans get a nerf it's completely legitimate to -blam!- up EVERY SINGLE USEFUL PERK COMPLETELY. Forgemaster? Nerf. Flameseeker? Nerf. Cauterize? Nerf. Explosive Pyre? Nerf. Even some of the more useless perks had the stat(s) they gave divided up into completely random other perks. You're a damn riot, you know that?

                • The nerf is barely anything to warlocks. Their flame shield is a bit weaker and their super is a tiny bit shorter, but they can throw more grenades during it. Stormcallers got a tiny nerf to the length of their super. And landfall won't be like a Titan smash. As someone who plays a warlock too, I'm not the least bit worried about it. If it's that bad, I still have a Titan and Hunter to play with as well.

                  • You use a few of the things that aren't overpowered about that subclass. The flame shield winning every fight was overpowered, but unless you used it ridiculously often then it shouldn't be that much of a change. Firebolts are a legitimate problem and need to be addressed, and so does killing someone with low armor with a single scorch attack. But it seems like the balanced stuff is still balanced

                  • Firebolts need nerf dawg. If you use fusion nades then it wouldn't effect you. And they just announced they didn't nerf firebolts anyway. The one thing people asked for on the class. They nerfed the melee instead which makes no sense to me.

                      • What sucks is that there is nothing "OP" about sunsingers, sure the burn perks + firebolt is very annoying, but you'll survive if you'd just back out of the engagements (which most people don't do.). The only thing that you can blame sunsingers for is the amount of cheesing they do in the raids (anyone remember Templar push?) . Hopefully they are just focusing on stormcaller and voidwalker (which could use a buff).

                          • I read this as: Sunsingers used to be rare in the crucible because BD and GS were dominant. Then BD got nerfed and ToO got released so the focus went from large games to small team games and the sunsingers abilities could truly shine as they could remove a third of the enemy team in one grenade, guarantee CQC victories with an overshield on hit and revive themselves when their team should have lost, to turn it from a 2v0 into a 2v3 almost instantly. Congrats rational PvP players you're about to bring some semblance of balance to the game! Also, fusions do not make you any better. They're almost as broken as firebolts. They take no skill and one-shot anybody. You can basically guarantee a k/d above 1 with fusions and Voidfang Vestments in any game mode.

                            • Veteran Sunsingers know that all the other perks in the Skill tree are a waste and that need to be brought to par i.e Solar Wind, Sunburst, Song Of Flame (Should be built-in with Radiance, not a node), Brimstone. There must be an incentive to run other perks giving as a result diversity in Sunsinger Builds and not just the "Op" Burning Firebolt.

Alright, now let me share my opinion as I'm an Alpha Warlock that swapped to Sunsinger and stuck with it the moment I hit Lv15. Viking Funeral is too strong. The amount of time it takes you out of the fight, and puts you in a vulnerable position is absurd. Cutting the amount of ticks in half, and doubling the amount of damage in compensation would be a great compromise that Bungie probably won't do. I personally expect Viking Funeral to become an extremely niche perk on the 12th. Flame Shield is fine; players compare it to Force Barrier and demand it to activate only on kills but there's so many key differences they fail to acknowledge. Force Barrier is naturally built into Disintegrate, while Sunsingers have to choose Flame Shield to have it (Not hard to do as the other perks are meh); Flame Shield is roughly 35% weaker than Force Barrier is; Flame Shield is JUST Flame Shield, there are no other perks you can use to boost the strength of it unlike Force Barrier; and lastly Disintegrate melee charges aren't used up until you get a kill, and making Flame Shield follow that same system would invalidate the melee entirely as it's consumed on a hit basis. Landfall is overloaded. It's a mini Fist of Havoc that blinds enemies not killed by it, and doesn't take anything from your super's total duration. It also destroys Defender Bubbles which is absurd. Transcendence makes Stormtrance last just a bit too long. You see people suggest nerfing the base duration of Stormtrance, but they don't realize how short the base duration really is when you're actively roaming using Ionic Blink and attacking enemies..The only thing that needs to happen is for Transcendence to lose just a little bit of time, but not too much that the perk isn't worth using anymore. Amplitude is funny.

                            • It is a shame if they go and unbalance and weaken an already fairly weak subclass; those grenades can be a pain yes, but so can sticky grenades, magnetic, voidwall, suppression (when it works), trip mine, solar and flux and scatter grenades. They're grenades, they're meant to deal the damage. Even from a lore stand point, they are grenades made using the power of light given to you by the traveler, expect them to hurt. I just played a match as sunslinger, and by far it is the weakest subclass I've used (the power in trials, elimination and salvage is due to the 'surprise I'm back' self res mainly), strong neutral game to be sure, but my hunters do it better, my defender titian more so (and the stormcaller defiantly the best warlock subclass... And it's balanced too, so, no nerfs to that). Moreover, for all that is right people, stop calling for the ruination of weapon/subclass/other in PvE because of PvP. [i would say more, but now is not the time]
