Wow OP, you're an idiot. Bungie would never hire you for your horrible ideas and lack of basic balance knowledge. Oh and also, your idea is unoriginal.
^^^ I know, that's probably what you're thinking. But please, bear with me. I've put a lot of thought into this idea, and if something like this was ever implemented, I'd leave the balancing to the professionals.
But here's the idea...
Grenade Launcher
What is a Grenade Launcher, you ask? Well, it's actually quite self explanatory, if you haven't figured it out yet. This heavy weapon, you know, shoots grenades.
"But OP, I can already throw grenades! This guy is such an idiot!"
I know, I know. But a Grenade Launcher is much more that just throwing grenades. Well, actually it's pretty much the same thing, but Grenade Launchers are much cooler. For each Heavy drop in Crucible, you get around 5-6 grenades in your launcher, which is, if you already didn't know, 2x the amount that you can normally hold with extra grenade Exotic armor.
"But OP, how will I know which grenade my Launcher will shoot?"
This is where the fun part comes in. Whenever a Grenade Launcher drops, it will roll with a random grenade effect. It can be ANY grenade in the game. This will add a lot of needed variety and fun to the game.
"But OP, how will the skill tree on a Grenade Launcher work?"
Great question. The skill tree of a Grenade Launcher will be similar to that of a Sword. There won't be any perks that really increase the damage capabilities of the grenade, there will only be perks that modify the stats, such as magazine size or Velocity of the projectile.
"But Velocity is a Rocket Launcher perk! WHY ARE YOU RECYCLING OLD WEAPONS OP?"
Hold on a second! Grenade Launchers are extremely different from Rocket Launchers. Let me go into more detail about the stats associated with the gun. The Rate of Fire is slower than Rocket Launchers, because we all know how OP 2 Firebolts raining consecutively from the sky would be. Although it does have the Velocity stat, which increases the speed of the projectile, it will not have a Blast Radius or Impact stat, because the grenades should stay fundamentally the same as they usually are. Stability will generally be low for Launchers, and Magazine Size will rarely be over 2, which makes Rate of Fire less of a necessity.
"Wow OP, these don't sound half bad. They sound like an extremely fun option for PvP. But how will they perform in PvE?"
Well, as any other grenade would perform. Grenade Launchers are great for crowd control, just as Rocket Launchers are, but specific grenades can pump out serious damage to Bosses. They define the middle ground between Machine Guns, which are great for boss damage, and Rocket Launchers, with a specialty in mob control. The advantage over Rocket Launcher is the larger ammo reserves, and the advantage over Machine Guns is the ability to pop out of cover for mere seconds and fall back, while still dealing damage.
"Man, I might pick up one of these! Where can I get one?"
Grenade Launchers will be sold from the Gunsmith (Hakke foundry), drop from the Lighthouse chest, and drop as an exclusive Strike reward (Taniks). At release, there will only be three Legendary Grenade Launchers.
"What about Exotics?"
I've been waiting for this question. There was a gun in Year 1, coveted by all and required by many to complete high level content. That weapon was the Gjallarhorn. Great news. Gjallarhorn may have died off, but its soul will be reincarnated into a new Exotic Grenade Launcher, The Skördeman. Also known as the Reaper, this Grenade Launcher will utilize Incendiary Grenades. Now that may sound like nothing, but the first Exotic Upgrade will give Incendiary Grenades a slight magnetic pull toward enemies. This magnetism will slow down grenades that are shot near the enemy and if close enough, the grenades will attach to the enemy. The second exotic perk transforms The Skördeman's projectiles into Swarm Grenades upon impact, leaving a damaging trap on dead bodies or dealing extra damage on Bosses. I hope you enjoy this gun.
"Thanks OP, you're not as scrubby as I thought you were."
Well gee, thanks.
If you have any suggestions for this weapon concept, please tell me. I hope you enjoyed!
By the way, to clarify, the Grenade Launcher will drop and it will have one specific grenade you can use for that launcher. For example, I get a Grenade Launcher from the Gunsmith for ranking up, and it rolls with Axion Bolt. Whenever I shoot the Grenade Launcher, it will shoot Axion Bolts. I think some people were confused by that.

You were very right but wrong as ever the grenade launcher work like a bigger fusion grenade explosion and theres an exotic one that is the reincanation of the gjhallahorn.

1 RespuestaI think it would be better as a special weapon. Having it in the heavy aligns too much with the rocket launcher.

1 RespuestaEditado por EmoSceneRawrXD: 3/11/2016 12:23:19 PMI just don't want them to be as exploitable as CoD's noob tubes. Have them explode in midair after a set time, maybe?

7 RespuestasThe only way that I will except a grenade launcher in the game: It must fire the grenades that you have equipped. I want to shoot six axion bolt or trip mine or fusion or arc bolt nades Muahahaha

Dragon's Breath, scorch cannon.

how about a 1hk suppression/flashbang/incindiary grenade depending on element

Cool idea

1 RespuestaI think it would be better if the gun rolled with 3 different grenades that you could select

Editado por Yoru: 3/11/2016 12:46:37 AMNo... I don't think that a grenade launcher that shoots the same type of grenades as our abilities is a good idea at all. If anything it should be something closer to the napalm effect of Dragon's Breath, but that would make Dragon's Breath less unique. (Obviously smaller size)
-
I'd prefer to see launchers as secondary support weapons. With a mag size of 4-6, a decent fire rate, good blast radius, but low damage (90 at the center of the explosion).

No one remembers all the noob tube crying of COD:MW

Flamethrower Grenade Launcher Shotgun (a really powerful one)

1 RespuestaIf bungie is going to add in another weapon than I think having a grenade launcher is a great idea.

1 RespuestaHow about Power Gauntlets for the Titan to go on a super punching spree, Monomolecular knives as a Hunter and a sort of Phase Shift mode that lets a Warlock use energy waves to cut people up? I would settle for Power Gauntlets because I kinda want to see two Titans having a punch out in the Crucible
