Has anyone else come across players who do this?
I can't work out how on earth this is helpful. Oryx is going to come in angry and slam regardless of whether or not someone is under the sword. Why would you waste your self-res taking the aggro/hit when he comes in? Because you've died, there wouldn't be any of the orbs left that you team would have created earlier before the regicide started. So why take the risk having no self-res for some time until your super has regenerated?
I was asked to do this the other week and I point blank refused. I am truly bewildered by this strategy but maybe someone can explain it to me?

Some of us are good enough warlocks, that we don't need to rely on self res. If I can take the hit to prevent a Hunter/Titan from dying, I will. But what do I know about working as a team?
-
Err probably bc most warlocks don't need their self res or rely on it so they use it for a strategic reason. But here's the thing, punching him with flame shield will allow you to take the hit and survive. Or you can be like me and refuse to run sunsinger bc irs boring and has low dps and run storm caller which adds armor when you super, allowing you to provide dps in the shade and take the hit just fine.
-
If the Warlock punches the shade as it slams the flame shield will prevent death.

3 RespuestasI can see why you play a warlock... you're so terrible you need two lives... Why wouldn't the guy that gets a free life want to take the hit for his teammates? If you can't build up your super killing a bunch of trash then that's yet another problem of your own.. I really don't like the fact so many warlocks use self rez as a crutch or an excuse to play poorly..

1 RespuestaEditado por Art Vandelay: 2/26/2016 4:56:50 AMThere's so many options to do when he slams: 1) Whoever he has aggro on can just jump over his head. He will slam the ground and deal zero damage. No need to run around in a circle all scared. Jump over him right away and make him waste his slam asap. 2) Sunsingers with flame shield or Defenders with force barrier can tank his hit from full health. 3) Anyone can block it with a sword and take next to no damage. 4) Kill him before he even gets to slam. All these options work 100% of the time, nobody will die and nobody has to waste their super. Edit: wow this is the best b8 I've ever seen. Nvm what i said.

1 RespuestaEditado por Talathiel: 2/26/2016 5:06:03 AMSorry deleted my post when I noticed it was about he story mode oryx fight NOT the raid fight.

It prevents any bullshit, oryx can not only kill you by hitting you, but if he doesn't kill you he may launch you, and the sides will kill you, to be fair, any average player will get their super very quickly, I use a bubble up top, and I have another one by the time we stagger Oryx, if I'm on a plate, I'll kill ads, and I'll have it by the time we stagger Oryx. No orbs needed, I have max intellect which helps, but it really is the smartest choice.

Editado por Ve7n00m: 2/26/2016 5:00:40 AMI just Melee the shade to get an over shield then tank the hit, no self respect (lol auto correct - Res) needed!
-
I'd rather my sunsinger take the hit than risk being down a middle titan or a plate or even a runner. Besides, by the time the next aura phase hits I usually have my super again. I feel it's all about what I can do for the team. Also why I flip to stormcaller during Golgoroth, I can wreck the taken ads while my team mops what's left of his health.
-
1) helps the person teleporting in.. 2) extends the time for the people that didnt dps enough.... If you have a capable team he should be dead before he slams anyways. If you let him slam your team isnt good at dps... simple as that
-
I always do this so my teammates who can't self revive don't die. I rarely die in the raid so I can use it with no regrets.
-
Editado por wilt: 2/26/2016 4:39:03 AMHard mode = no revives, as I'm sure you know. Yes, people should know how to jump out of harms way. But regardless... why take the chance? Warlocks are marginally less useful than the other two classes in the raid. By ensuring you are the one being swung at, you guarantee no slip ups. Just melee a thrall to get the shield bonus, and you can tank it. This honestly isn't a tall order to fill, just be helpful to your team.

Editado por boi: 2/26/2016 4:38:09 AMYou don't have to take the hit to the point of death. What I do is that I confuse the hell out of the shade, melee her so I can get an over shield, and then I jump back. Works every time. But since it's HM, it's better off a warlock takes the hit just in case a death does occur. Hence the importance of warlocks in this raid. You probably knew this already, but I hope I cleared it up for you lol Edit: Oh. This is about the mission? Why the hell would anyone use sunsinger in the first place. Lol. Anyone can take the hit in the mission itself, because you can just be revived right after anyways..

3 RespuestasIf you don't have enough orbs in the center to take the hit in the shade and get your super immediately after..your team has been doing it harder than you need to.
-
Same here. Got used to it. I'm like....How about just learn when to jump? So you don't get hit by the slam?
-
Because your death means less than the other hunters and titans when you can just pop back from the grave. Taking the hit and making the shade leave to save the other's lives is only smart. If you can't build up your super again you are doing something wrong.

1 RespuestaI've only ever done regicide solo so I have no idea.
-
Because it's obviously a far safer option when compared to what happens if you don't: the shade runs wild & potentially kills a player without the self-res crutch?
-
2 RespuestasI do that for the raid. During shade and if I'm in my teammates want me to do it. Better for me to take the hit and revive if I actually do die rather than have someone die and not be able to self Rez

2 RespuestasEditado por LightofMystery: 2/25/2016 10:32:11 PMI usually stick to storm caller throughout the whole raid. I mean if I don't die then what's the point of running self-res? It's such a waste honestly. Besides with running storm caller you could use support perks that are helpful (pulse wave) not to mention it's the fastest super to get (with running electrostatic mind). With that in mind you can generate plenty of orbs depending on how you use it for others to get their super. As for oryx, if you have a tether+ stormtrance ready, once the tether becomes active and all the thrall are in the middle (referring to when it first starts) you can run landfall and take out if not all the thrall, most of them, and the tether will still make orbs + your orbs as well. What I usually do when it comes to the shade, is if I get teleported before the shade slams (usually I have my super), I start focusing on it then when it comes to slam I jump up, and activate my stormtrance ( with having landfall I'm still in the air when it slams so most of the time I take no damage or very little - some damage. I've died once, maybe twice but only due to the slam launching me straight into the wall like the phalanxes do with their shield.) I usually run transcendence Instead of pulse wave for oryx though. When I use my super against the shade I keep zapping it that way if it doesn't die, I know instantly where it is at and can go to it and keep zapping it/let me team know where it went. It's also very handy for the thrall that come in. Hardly ever when i use my stormtrance the shade fails to die. Maybe every now and then. Anywho, point is, if you feel comfortable running storncaller, then run stormcaller. If you feel like you're going to die some of the time then use self-res. However self-res isn't the only option for a warlock to use in the raid ;)
-
Unless you die a lot and need your self res for that, you should be able to take the hit and get your res back from the hundreds of orbs the hunters and Titans have made throughout the encounter. Most often oryx slams right when the forth person gets teleported in, why lose a person when you don't have to? Someone taking the hit gets rid of the chance someone else messes up and doesn't get out of the way in time.
-
2 RespuestasThey do it to take the hit because all of my teams have had the problem of one getting teleported when he slams. So,the warlock takes the full hit,and whomever got teleported, just goes down to red bar for health.
-
As a primary runner, I don't use touch of malice on challenge mode and take an exotic sword instead to solo the vessel. Hunter, warlock or titan, if I get teleported I take agro while blocking. A direct hit only takes 10% Health. (with dark drinker) So much easier and safer then a warlock dying a second time with no res.
-
Because he's going to hit something .. Or at least try to.. Your super is not helpful at all.. So u might as well make him slam so u can self Rez and save say a Titans life who is taking down the ogers because they are most important
