Just read Deej's latest post and it seems that skill based match making is out the window in favour of connection based.
I've been trying to get my friends into playing some pvp recently as they hated it last year. They are still finding their feet, trying to discover what guns to use etc, and now here they are about to get demolished and demoralised one again.
Why?
Because, as usual, Bungie only listen to their friends and the elite Twitch steamers.
I've read many threads by these people complaining about how their games are a grind now that they are matched up to people of equal skills and how they DEMAND to be able to go into a match and just enjoy themselves by destroying all they see.
People complained about the lag. I'm not sure I noticed a massive difference to be truthful. All I ask is for my weapons to cause the same damage as others using the same thing.
As usual, we'll have to wait and see how this plays out, but it's getting to the tipping point now fellas. Carry on pandering to the minority and you will finally finish this game for the people who pay your bills.
Edit: To the people who are asking how a noob can get better if (s)he's not being challenged by going against good players.
Answer me this. By your own logic, how can good players get better if they are going up against noobs?
Surely playing people of similar and slightly better ability is what you are looking for.
Do you really think shooting fish in barrels improves your angling skills?
Second edit: well, I still have a good memory of all the whining that occurred prior to SBMM happening. The amount of hated directed to bungie at every iron banner.
It would appear from reading the comments that red bars was never an issue during CBMM.
I hope you all remember this thread when it goes back. Can't wait for all these no red bar, no lag games during next week's IB.
Let's just see shall we.
-
Well, iron banner is here and om not seeing much lag. Seems to do the job.
-
I dont see how you feel playing a guy whos overseas (which happened many times in my games) which in turn created such bad lag is better than this is now.
-
Iron banner has been great. All green bars. Thanks bungie.
-
Hit detection actually works again. -blam!- sbmm.
-
I've ran into maybe one game of Ib that was laggy. I like the way shit is now don't listen to this clown bungo
-
1 RespuestaShut up Meg :D
-
Nobody likes forced SBMM. Go away.
Iron banner is much less laggy this time.
-
Skill based matchmaking has no place in a game without dedicated servers. If they remove P2P then I'm all for it but until then it should be connection based only.

1 RespuestaYeah, uhhhh no. We wanted CBMM because we don't want to play in this laggy shit called crucible. Either way, I haven't noticed a difference at all, still the same amount of laggy red bars that wreck people. Apparently the dmg referee isn't effective.
-
2 RespuestasI agree, I really don't see the point in a match where I either couldn't possibly lose or where my best strategy is to hide in a corner so as not to concede kills. I'd rather have close games and a little lag than the one sided blowouts and lag we have now.
-
Regular crucible was much better in Y1. IB has always been laggy.

6 RespuestasI'm not anywhere near elite, but when I got a Phantom on my second IB match, I knew I liked this matchmaking. I've done about 12 or 13 games of Iron Banner ALL BUT ONE GAME ENDED ON 10000 go 9000, seems like a balanced game to me. I've been top of the leaderboard a lot but I've been winning as much as I've been losing yet I still play comfortably, and there's no laggy Titans Fist of Havoc'ing from their spawn, or shots going through walls, or Lightning from a Stormcaller illuminating the whole -blam!-ing map. So here it is: I enjoy CBMM because it allows me to actually PLAY. If I go into Skill Based, I get annihilated... Not because I don't have the SKILLS to compete but because I literally can't! Sure your friends will get destroyed SOMETIMES. But I at least don't get destroyed ALL THE TIME. They'll get better and profit from crispy connections while their doing it. That's how I progressed, that's how everyone does.
-
Then be elite...communist.
-
It's balanced because we seem to have three red bars on each team every match!
-
Everyone always complains, play the -blam!-ing game and be happy that you like It And if you don't stop playing and don't announce it.
-
I'd rather get demolished buy a good player. Before I get shot trough a wall by a laggy asshole. I'm sorry but this is a great change.
-
5 RespuestasI'm not their friend but they listened to me so shut your face. If they don't like destiny pvp that's fine. They aren't required to.
-
1 RespuestaGet gud. And stop complaining. Life's a bitch and if you don't like it gtfu! If you played basketball per say and you weren't that good if you told the coach you only want to play other bad players, he would laugh in your face and tell you to work harder you lazy piece of shit!
-
Match making was way better in year one compared to this bs in year two they want a competitive matching make a rank playlist and leave those of use that go in just to to rage a little and have fun
-
2 RespuestasI really feel like they should have a ranked crucible playlist for sweats / custom matches with sbmm, and a casual playlist that does connection based mm.
-
4 RespuestasTake your 0.9 k/d elsewhere. You're safery net is gone kiddo
-
Here's the thing. I'm a bad player. I know that. But I would much rather lose to someone better than me than someone who got lucky with lag.
-
Is this b8? So much back and forth, like jacking off without the reward
-
How about just playing the game and getting better like we all did years ago when games never had sbmm
-
Look, sorry to be the voice of justice here, but it used to be way worse, back in year 1. I understand that connection based matchmaking is kind of crap but at the same time it ensures that you wont be insta'd by someone using a lag switch. It may be hard on your friends, but to be quite fair it was that way for alot of the pvo community, seeing as destiny for the most part has its own distinct feeling and setting when it comes to pvp. You won't get good overnight, you have to practice. The only injustice I see here is the intense meta being presented in the game rn, as for new players who typically enjoy a pvp scene are being faced with a series of mobile snipers and semi overpowered grenades. The matter is that this game will never be balanced, whether it be a problem of taking advantage of internal mechanics in the game, weapons being op, or simply the problem of one super being stronger than another. The best thing to do is deal with it, because you can't change it.
