I don't mean to "whine" or anything (Can one discuss game balancing in a community as toxic as this without being called a whiner?) but the MIDA seems to outgun almost every other weapon, unless it's fighting a shotgun, sniper, or one of the other meta primaries. This gun rests in a very strange archetype, which means that it shoots faster than a Scout Rifle in the Hung Jury archetype, but still kills in 4 headshots. This means that if one player with a Hung Jury and another with a MIDA were to play perfectly (Hitting only headshots at their weapon's maximum fire rate), the MIDA user would win every single time. Isn't that the very definition of overpowered?
On top of the fire rate to impact ratio that this gun has, it also has 90 aim assistance (The highest out of any scout rifle, making headshots incredibly easy to land), a hidden perk that gives it what is basically an upgraded High Caliber Rounds (Meaning their opponent has even more difficulty hitting the MIDA user), and increased agility while using the gun (I'm not complaining about this part, as I see it as a completely fair and balanced exotic perk, but it's kind of ridiculous that it comes along with every other advantage that this gun provides).
Dictionary Definition of Overpower (First Definition):

Superior force? Absolutely (As explained above). People often seem to think something has to two-shot like Thorn or melt like the Vex OPclast, but that's not always the case.
Also, to anybody saying that it should be overpowered because it's exotic, here's a quote from Bungie themselves:
Exotic Weapons are designed to look, feel, and sound overpowered. At the same time, they are not supposed to break the balance of the game. We hope these weapons challenge the way players think about their loadouts. Exotics will be a constant work in-progress!
Thanks for Reading.

15 RespuestasStop fighting weapons in their optimal range and not yours. Shotgun whiners just need to stay out of shotty range. Sniper whiners stay out of sniper lanes. Any map I can tell you where kids will be sniping so I avoid it. High ROF Ar whiners need to use cover. Mida whiners need to stay out of midrange. Every weapon has a counter. The question is would you fight a shark on land or in the water?

1 RespuestaStormcallers with Mida and 1k yard are too cute
-
It's funny when people bring up aim assist on the Mida for a reason as its 'OP.' This was NEVER mentioned in Y1, ever. And y'know, it hasn't changed. I think crybabies are OP, and should be nerfed.
-
Mida isn't overpowered is just that every other good exotic was nurfed to hell
-
Mida is a very good gun and the +2 agility is widely under discussed, as it makes a big difference. That being said, as good as Mida is, it will never conquer the TLW/1000YS combo. Therefore I cannot agree to Mida being overpowered.
-
1 RespuestaIn your direct scenario of the Mida vs a Hung Jury, then yes the Mida "should" win. When 2 guns are of the same archetype the exotic should win out overall. The Mida is better than the legendary equivalent, but it does not break the game as there are so many situations where the Mida does not work best. That is what Bungie mean when they say an exotic shouldn't break the balance of the game. This is also why you can only equip one exotic at a time. The Mida works well at range, but what if someone closes in on your with TLW, or Invective? They are going to eat your biscuits.

I don't own a MIDA so I can't judge

3 RespuestasThe mida does over power other weapons But that's because everything has been nerfed

It's not as bad as thorn was

Nerf EVERYTHING. Nerf nerf nerf.

2 RespuestasMida was always a balanced weapon - one of the most. Now that everything has been nerfed to hell, it has the illusion of being OP, when it's really just what it is - a decent gun.

Overused, not overpowered

3 RespuestasIt's not overpowered. I'm a casual PVP player and I can counter it with practically any weapon. The key is to counter the opponent's play style more than countering a gun.
-
I don't use mida, but I have no problems beating it. Leave it alone, if they try to nerf it they will probably break something else.
-
I think this is a great argument but I still feel it is not overpowered. It is just a very good gun. It still can be beaten oitside of its range and you have to sacrifice an exotic slot for it. This means that the comparison between it and the hung jury is wrong because the hung jury is not exotic and allows use of one in the special or heavy slot to compliment the primary. I did enjoy reading this however.

3 RespuestasEditado por --KNIGHT--: 2/18/2016 9:37:23 AMI can show evidence as to why MIDA is NOT overpowered, but OVERUSED. Tlaloc is an exotic scout rifle, with a special perk that gives a boost to its rate of fire, damage and stability. Out of three matches I played in free for all, I killed all but one with a MIDA. (There were 11 of them( again that's evidence)) so I killed ten people with Tlaloc against MIDA at mid to long range. Tlaloc is barely used in crucible. Comparing the usage to person per match ratio, it's about 1:30. With MIDA, that's about 2 or 3:1. It waay overused than it should be. GET TLALOC ITS WAY BETTER

18 RespuestasHi Birdman Just try to hear me out.... I hope you take a moment to read this. The MIDA is the most all around gun in the game. It's not Great at Long Range, It's not Great at Mid Range. It's not Great at close range. It's GOOD at all ranges. The Colovances Duty, and Jade Rabbit will beat the MIDA at long range if the users are equally skilled. The PDX Pulse Rifle, Nerwins Mercy, Doctrine's Passing, TLW will beat MIDA in Mid to short range if the users are equally skilled. Once again...it's not great at any range....Its good at all ranges.

Editado por TheArtist: 2/18/2016 7:33:48 PMMIDA isn't overpowered. In fact, in Year One it was considered a mediocre SR that many people didn't think was worth burning up your exotic slot for. What makes MIDA difficult to fight (in the hands of a good player) in PvP is that it fires fast enough to hold its own in mid-range fights, but (with its hidden perk) it hits hard enough to win long-range fights and suppress snipers. MIDA has a a hidden perk----large caliber rounds. If someone is good enough to string together a stream of headshots with it, they can cause enough camera shake to make would-be snipers motion sick..... ...and make it difficult to fight back with any weapon that requires PRECISION fire. Which is why everyone is using it in this sniper-heavy meta, since the nerf to PRs hamstrung their ability to suppress snipers. MIDA is exactly what Bungie intended it to be. A Unique weapon that fills a Unique roll in the game. The problem is that snipers are horribly out of balance with everything else right now.

1 RespuestaIt isn't overpowered. Everything else was just nerfed to shit and sucks in comparison.
