Bungie has given up, just going through the motions on their contract now...

They just churn out grinds. Grinds are their focus, not fun. Grinds that will keep even the most hardcore player unable to reach max gear for months of major gameplay time per week. Grinds that require a player to bring other buyers to the game because there is no matchmaking. Even the bounties are supposed to make you bring other buyers with the fireteam requirements. Their encounter team has given up. They just give the enemies cheap mechanics instead of making new enemies. Change their color, make them dodge/block your opening automatically, make them have tons of health/shields, put snipers everywhere, throw literal armies at you in case the cheesy mechanics weren't enough, spawn 3-4 waves to slow you down, if there is a guaranteed reward that is even remotely worthwhile they will fill rooms with yellow bars, spawn enemies behind all cover spots. Their loot team has given up. They ran out of ideas so they got rid of reforging and made the vast majority of year one weapons useless. Even if you want to use year one weapons in pvp (where they are normalized) you are punished for it by never getting any worthwhile gear drops. They hate the idea of ANYONE finishing the loot grind so they made virtually all drops marginal to no upgrade. They couldn't figure out something fun so they just went for pure burnout style by default. Consistent addictive dopamine rush generating loot drops is something this team LOATHES. Their level design team hasn't even worked on Destiny 1 since release. These guys were on Destiny 2 immediately. All levels were designed prior to Destiny 1 release and then stretched out over the next 2 years as DLC to charge extra for. Level design team didn't even try to do anything extra for Destiny 1. Their management has given up. One boss finally got fired (listed as quit to not scare shareholders) finally for complete and utter failure to respond to obvious change that needed to be implemented. The atmosphere in the Bungie offices is a morale breaking one. The managers are so out of touch that they were shocked by the failed metacritic that cost them their bonuses. They were worse than the Xbox1 launch team. Completely out of touch and just going through the motions. Luke Smith is a perfect example. He insults the playerbase and doesn't even understand that he is doing so. The bungie that originally made halo is nothing like the bungie of today. They have lowered their standards. They have a bunch of out of touch bosses who are too rich to care anymore. They have no loyalty to their employees or founders, no matter how long they have been with them. They hate the idea of transparent communication with the players. Worse still, with every new release or xpac, they promise that the loot grinds will get better, that they will chill on the cheesy mechanics, that they will change. But with every new release and xpac it all stays the same. HoW was a slight exception. Activision refuses to disclose any real numbers about destiny since taken king because it looks so bad. MASSIVE drop off in the playerbase, low player engagement, microtransactions that peaked early and dropped off massively as well. Whatcha gonna do?
