Bungies "Roadmap" lol

They claim to have come to us with breaking news about the future of the game. Too bad they only gave it to us because activision forced their hand. Everything in today's weekly update was pretty much a direct quote from the activision earnings call this morning. They aren't listening to us. They aren't giving us answers because we asked for them. All bungie is doing is trying to cover their asses after activision dropped more about the future of this game in five minutes than bungie has in 5 months. EDIT: Here is a link to Activision's slide presentation from the quarterly earnings report. Page 9 Details what they have planned for this cycle for their major IP's. http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/ACTI/1497154653x0x874781/F869E9F3-B6E5-4BCC-8F9A-115A397B0F11/Q4_2015_ATVI_Slides.pdf EDIT 2: We're trending. Lets keep the community informed of the way Bungie truly treats us. EDIT 3: 150+ comments. Let's make sure bungie sees this and knows that we aren't blind to what has been going on. EDIT 4: Now Bungie is going to give us a free 320 ghost shell one day after they tell us that the light level is going to be raised. Even though the ghost shell is going to be irrelevant in a short period of time people are still praising Bungie. Does that make sense to anybody else?

  • Or more realistically Activision which is the publisher and gets to decide what information about the roadmap is released and when revealed this to investors and Bungie therefore was free to include it in the weekly update in case you don't follow Activision's investor calls.

......or since activision owns that a$$ they have to wait to release revenue impacting information due to the fact the publisher is a publicly traded company. See, releasing the fact that Bungie has a spring launch for large new content will drive activision shares on the market. Same said for the future release of a sequel to one of the publishers largest selling game titles. You drama queens need to learn how a company actually works before whining incessantly.

Conspiracy's on top of conspiracy's. It's a video game you fat turd. Go find a corner and cry somewhere. Let's face it bungie could make a game that blows you, makes you a sandwich, and then rubs your feet. You would still cry. Sick of reading your b.s. you cry cause there's no content they release it, you cry. You cry nerf they nerf you cry again. They say hey this is what we are working on yet again you cry. You cry when a dlc drops when a new raid drops you cry when challenge mode drops you cry when there's sparrow racing. Still you cry and then you cry some more. Just stfu and move on. I want to read about this game not what you think is happening behind your back. These people give you a voice and all you can do is sling shit in the air. Do us all a favor and go fuk yourself.

            • They never claimed it was breaking news, & they told us about the February & spring updates 2 months before this earnings report was released.

            • Here's the possibilities of what I see out of this: 1.) The "roadmap" is actually a child's place-mat map found in restaurants- 40-50% likely 2.) The Community will have as much sense of direction as Roronoa Zoro- 40-60% likely 3.) It's a real treasure map to real treasure- 10-20% 4.) ???- ??%

            • Using the term "roadmap" implies that Bungie is moving Destiny in a measurable direction. Sorry, but I just do not see it. The TWAB post was no more clear than any of the other prior "weekly updates". Just more "big things coming" and "we hear you". While I applaud the recent increase in communication by Bungie, this weekly update just fell short and sounded just like every other update we have been given. I know I (and many others I am sure) am just not falling for the same old tired placations provided by Bungie. WHAT exactly is coming? WHEN exactly is it coming? Sorry Bungie, but the "hype train" only works when you actually have something to hype in the first place and given the complete loss of credibility Bungie suffers from now trying to hype such a vague "expansion" just falls short.

                    • I guaranteed a higher up at Bungie sent those bullet point comments over to Activision for that power point slide. I work as a financial analyst for a major corporation in the United States, we pull together finacial power point decks together like that all the time. All that commentary is at a very high level.

                      Let's look at this realistically.
That content release will feature a significant Light increase
So just a new cap limit, making all those forever 319s rage that all their time spent grinding just to reach 320 was wasted. I'm guessing 350 to 400 as the new limit; with 340 or 390 being the highest possible outside of hardcore Raiding. Of course, to be fair to everyone, the standard minimum cap for new normal mode endgame areas will probably be around 330 to 380.
a bunch of new gear to earn and equip
If TTK to date is anything to go by, that more or less means recycled Y1 equipment in Y2 format (either a new visual but same stats and handling as the old, or a straight Y2 version), including the remaining Y2 versions of Y1 exotics that still haven't been released. I feel they'll also add more Strike-exclusive Gear, as well as more event-exclusive gear, but that's about it. I do wish that they will also improve Strike-exclusive drop rates in general at least. Treads Upon Stars, Darkblade Helm, and the Mauler Gauntlets are still a myth to me despite grinding those Strikes in normal and heroic (via Strike Rotation playlist). We'll not even speak of Nightfall rewards.
new challenges for PvE players seeking some more fun experiences and replayability. Beyond that, the team is focused on delivering a large expansion later this year, and a full Destiny sequel in 2017.
I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt that this means more story and at least one new area, rather than just more retreading of the same zones, but let's be realistic, the March update is most likely just recycled and up-leveled versions of VoG, PoS, and Crota's End with Y1 Strikes brought back into rotation with their accompanying Y2 versions of Y1 equipment, and the "large expansion" will probably just be more areas to visit in existing locations. Here's hoping that Matchmaking could be added to Y1 versions of the old Raids while keeping the Y2 Raids Fireteam-required. What I really hope though is no more pure PvP-only events like Crimson Fail and Salty Racing League. The former needs a PvE Strike version (where the Broken Heart buff would allow for 2 players to take on a Strike normally meant for 3) and the latter wasn't a problem for me personally, but it did have its own problems besides poor high light level reward drop rates. And please no more idiotic IB experiments. Keep it to Control or Domination. Don't add Modifiers, don't pick out another match style, just Control or Domination.

                        • I think it's the exact opposite. I think that activision wasn't allowing Bungie to put out the "roadmap" because it was on their report. Bungie isn't always straight forward but I can't imagine they would go MIA like they did without the big guy Activision bullying them.

                          • They're a multibillion dollar company dude, come off this Robin Hood attitude. You guys treat videogames like a public service. They're not. They're developed, funded and published with private funds the company will use as they see fit. If you decide to buy the game, great. If not, great. They still have shareholders, utilities, employees, and much much more to spend money on. The world would literally collapse by the end of the weekend if you people were in charge.

                            • It was a shareholder earnings call. Bungie was most likely under an NDA. Due to trading rules/laws they would affect the stock price if they just announced things whenever they want. Problems of the publisher being publicly traded.
