...then why does nobody ever want to do it?
My challenge mode run on Tuesday I was playing on my Titan and ready to go on Ogre killing duty for obvious reasons. Everybody started claiming assignments and the Fireteam leader asked who was going to run relic. Silence followed. I ended up volunteering because I don't mind running on my Titan, but I thought I would have better served the group on Ogres.
Second run yesterday on my Hunter I volunteered to run a plate because I knew I could snipe my knight easily and smoke bomb myself on the way back to mid if necessary to stay alive. Fireteam leader asked who was running relic. Silence followed again. This time the group had claimed their assignments and the leader told the one guy who didn't speak up that he was runner. The guy almost shit his pants, so once again I volunteer to run relic. Not a fan of doing it on my Hunter but I ran it anyway.
It really is an easy job compared to the chaos going on down on the ground, but why does nobody want to run it? Shouldn't people be arguing over who's going to run it, especially on challenge mode where you actually have to kill everything and get back to mid without dying?
EDIT: I see some folks mentioning that people are especially afraid to run it on no-knight on account of the ogres focusing on the runner. My answer to that is to take the extra time and run to the daughters pillar to pick up blessing and have a hunter smoke bomb you for invisibility before you head down into the chaos. The vessel will be a little closer and you still have time to grab the brand and get back up while Oryx slams. Even if your team has to start staggering before you get there it's still safer than having a relic runner exposed all by himself while everybody is safe in the bubbles up top.

Shit son if you want someone who's fast and likes to do it, look no further!
-
I enjoy doing it but my team doesnt want me to do it cause i have the highest light. Makes no sense to me but hey 5 against 1 is pretty hard to win
-
I wanna do it, actually. Anyone want a solid relic runner? Xbox One.
-
Runner is the easiest job but the most important one too. One miss, one easy mistake, one wrong turn or premature jump can easily lead to a wipe and having to restart. Most people don't like that type of responsibility mostly when your teammates b!7ch at you for that one mistake. Funny part being that they themselves didn't volunteer and probably can't do as good but still complain about the runner. Honestly I love being runner and usually volunteer (im good doing any role in the raid), but I'm trying to force others to do it cause if you don't force them, they'll never learn/improve
-
It's the only role that is a guaranteed wipe if you mess up. Everywhere else can be recovered with a little communication.
-
I'm always Voluntold I'm the relic runner. Had same jobs in VoG/CE. People just want to kill stuff with no repercussions.
-
You could always fall off the platforms and then be kicked from the fireteam for messing up.
-
I always run it because I have a titan so it's not very hard at all. Plus you're right a lot of people don't volunteer so I love doing it.
-
I do it every chance I get. I don't know why people are so hesitant with running the relic. The most common answer I've heard is, "it's too much pressure."
-
Maybe because people like to bite a$$ when someone makes a mistake
Twice as long, Thrice as bright
-
I won't volunteer but am competent on all three characters. The reason I don't, is when you mess up it's basically a wipe. Highly visible and if you aren't running with chill people they can give you a problem for making a mistake.
-
Everybody else isn't scared it's just whoever the first person to speak is. The leader ask who's on plate 1 2 or 3 and silence follows that too. It doesn't matter which job I get as long as we get it done. I like plate 2 the best but I don't scream for it first. Running relic is the easiest job but idk why people hate doing it
-
If I miss a knight on a platform people can focus and help me out. If I miss a jump on a relic run I caused a wipe. I prefer relic, if you know what you're doing, which I do, it's the easiest job ever. If you don't, which many don't, it's a challenge. I'm honestly terrified to hold a platform because I've never done it...
-
I always ask if I can do it. Mostly because I like the animation when you claim the vessel's brand. It's cool. Plus a little more interactive to me. Although I'll do any job, really.

6 RespuestasRelic runner requires you to literally have no skill and you can be a lower level because you don't do anything but click a.
-
I can't remember the last time I screwed up as the runner. I think I'm above a 100 flawless run streak (of course including all the times we wiped because of somebody else's fault, but me running perfectly up until the wipe). And I don't run slow and safe. I run fast, usually the vessel hasn't even spawned yet and I need to wait for him lol. Then again I loved being swordbearer for Crota as well.
-
I think it has to do with the fact that if the relic runner makes one mistake it's a wipe regardless of what's going on on the ground. If you miss a sniper on an ogre it's no biggie and you can recover with the floater. But if the runner missed a jump all eyes are on them.
-
Because people can't grasp the simple concept of platforming
-
It isnt the easiest. But it is the least stressful IMO. I like holding a platform personally but I am always down to run a relic if no one wants to.
-
Noobs can't handle pressure, I can do the jumps perfectly 100 times in a row plus get everyone organised with my call outs over the mic. Some people mess up every few tries, in fact a lot of people do.
-
If you aren't making it before the knight spawns most of the time, you're probably a bad relic runner. Only excuse for not making it there fast enough is if relic ends at the back or teammates delay platforms.
-
Uhhh. How is it the easiest? Literally any mess up results in a wipe.
-
I find being a titan is pretty easy on oryx , running relic is still easy but not as easy as killing ogres with malice. Relic running has a lot more pressure
-
To many people are scared of screwing up me on the other hand is like give me that. If we wipe whatever
-
I manage it pretty well, I can usually make it before the 4th ogre is dead or before the knight even spawns in with the shield

5 Respuestas"Everybody started claiming assignments the Fireteam leader asked who was going to run relic. Silence followed." Well, if all plates were claimed, and ogre duty was claimed, then there is only 1 person without a job. If I claimed Plate 1, I would be silent too, I already have a job. The person who was left over should have spoken up and claimed the remaining position. Personally, I always claim plate #1 on Sisters and Oryx because I don't trust people to know where to be. I always take the more important positions because I know I will do them successfully. I have no problem with running the relic, so don't get me wrong. I just rather the plates not get jacked up.
