I'll start with an idea, and you will suggest more. I'll add it to the comprehensive list of mechanics for our game. Let's begin!
This is the base idea: An open world science fiction game taking place on an uncharted planet.

Main Enemy in the game could be a group of Aliens with the ability to camouflage called "Sin Prodency" Pronounced Sin Prōdensee. Story: Humanity has paid dearly for polluting our earth and has fled as strange creatures have been taking cities and infecting humans (could be a later Dlc.) After finding a maybe colonisiable planet they are shot down and find a master race that is not friendly. You have to survive and take out the leader. Name not thought of yet. The Premise: There are random species across the universe which its only purpose is to erradicate planets as part of an energy exchange divine ritual. Your protagonist is one of them, you can modify every aspect of your alien specie, every planet is always different with each new gameplay. Mechanics: As you are some kind of "bomb" which will destroy the planet once the timer is over, you somehow have to find the way through the planet to avoid its destruction, meeting other characters across the story, if the planet is destroyed, the game starts over, albeit on a different planet, with an entire different quest. There is no reload function and the game saves automatically every 5 minutes, you will find your way by making the right decisions. The way your character is created affects the general appereance of NPCs.

Please read: Gathering and crafting with materials to then forge equipment, name, mass produce and sell to Towns for other players to buy. Shops and businesses can be set up for other players. The fun of being a merchant comes from the need to delve into dungeons to loot rare materials/pieces to use or salvage. Once your shop becomes stable, you can hire players or Npc's to fetch materials for 40% of the cut. Professionals will cost more and Npc's will have a %chance to succeed and stats determining lock picking/ward breaking to get into lost caches. Players and Npc's working for Merchant companies can be attacked and bounties will be placed on such players. Players as Militia men will be rewarded or promoted for bringing justice. Stolen goods recovered will bring a bonus. Back to the item thing. If items become a hit among players/Npc's, Private guilds can be hired to attempt to silence you or sieze your production.
