I've taken a long break from destiny, is it really dead? I've been a huge fan since alpha. Please share the truth, no sugar coat please.

Editado por Wildcard1701: 12/1/2015 4:21:24 PMSame as you, huge fan since Alpha, and I also try to be as objective as possible, so I hope you find this helpful. Destiny is not dead, it's still very much alive and still a major player in the current gaming landscape. That being said, it is in a lull at the moment due to several factors. Mainly, it's the major release season for games and many other talented studios are bringing out their juggernaught titles. Gamers typically play multiple games, and this time of year sees a lot of jumping around. The other primary factor is that most hardcore/daily players have played though all the content, and there isn't anything announced for future expansion yet. While I personally think this is a mistake to not have at least given some tease as to what is coming next and when, it is what it is. Destiny, like any MMO (and it is an MMO, I don't care what Bungie says), is more of a long term relationship than a summer fling like most games. Some games are like that girl/guy you meet over the summer and date for a couple months. You talk all the time, have crazy sex at every opportunity, and before you know it the flame is gone and you realize that while it was fun, it wasn't meant to be. The same is true of games like Halo 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, or Uncharted 4. You get it, play it feverishly for a month or two, then it kind of goes away (unless you're a super hardcore fan, I understand this). Once the shine kind of wears off, you wait for either a sequel or move on to another game. Destiny is more like your spouse of live-in significant other. There are periods where it's just as hot and heavy as that fling, and there are times when you're just comfortable knowing the other person is there and focused on other things like work, kids, home improvements, etc. We're currently in the latter part of our relationship with Destiny. It's nice knowing it's there for us if we want it, but we're distracted by other things for the moment. When Bungie finally announces the next expansion, we'll swing back to the hot and heavy part. Such is relationships, and such is gaming. Destiny can only be killed by Bungie. No other studio is out there with the expressed intention of taking down Destiny. A lack of continuing content and high quality competition will be the only things that will cause its decline. The lack of continuing content is the main issue right now, and I think there is really no excuse why Bungie hasn't at least insinuated what the next expansion will be. Competition isn't really an issue presently, because while there are plenty of great games out, Destiny is the only game of it's kind currently on the market. While it certainly isn't without its flaws, having Destiny around is good for gaming in general. It brings fans from multiple genres together, and drives other studios to innovate. This is good for us as gamers. In short, Destiny isn't dead, it's just in a lull. If you are a fan of the game take this time to maybe level up a new toon, find a solid clan, or maybe just play something else for awhile. There is truth to the cliche that absence makes the heart grow fonder.

It's not dead, it's just got nothing to offer me at the moment. Also, Bungie has clearly shown me that they don't want me to get attached to or invested in any gear because it's all temporary, so it doesn't make sense to grind for anything either.

Despite the forums claiming Destiny is dying, the tower and patrols are still as full as ever and I still have no issues finding teams for any raids.
-
Destiny sucks, it just sucks less than any other shooter out right now. Sad
I've taken a long break from destiny, is it really dead? I've been a huge fan since alpha. Please share the truth, no sugar coat please.
It's grown stale and is hemorrhaging players

People have got to end this bs...it's getting so old.... PEOPLE PLAY DIFFERENT GAMES. With a vast array of new games coming out of course many people will take a break from Destiny! People are allowed to play more than one game!
-
No Density> all new games
-
Servers are still running, plenty of players are still occupying it, so...no.
-
i realised something btw, we may think this but due to finding new players for tefer a friend qline and all that stuff, i saw serious amount of new starters. its on a downslope once again but definetly not dead
-
Nope. People are just burned out with the grind and are taking a break to play some new games because there is no point grinding. I am sure that they will come back when challenge mode releases.
-
Destiny is hibernating...but it's far from dead. Still the most fun game in my opinion.
-
There's just lots of games out atm and destiny hasn't got anything new since ttk. It's still alive but the limelight is on the new games atm. Imo nothing is the same as destiny so I still play. I'm playing fallout4 whenever I'm not on destiny.
-
Technically yes/no, alot of people left for the other games, and Destiny was contested so people got the idea it's repetitive and left, people that love doing the same thing over and over again and people who love getting ripped off (no offense) have stayed.

6 RespuestasBy this time last year we had a new DLC with a new raid and higher cap that didn't make our previous weapons completely irrelevant. As of now we have had a Halloween "event". And no mention of a DLC anywhere. Less content than year one.

2 RespuestasA game can't die it has no living features, it's called being left in the dust and I could care less I enjoy the game anyway.
-
Im just tired of putting time and effort into things and getting nothing. This game is like a slot machine and im tired of it. Pull the handle 3 bars come up or 3 "fûck yous" come up. Ill go play fallout where if i go attempt to get something ill usually get it for all the time and "effort"

2 RespuestasYes. Now, Delete Destiny and annoy people on the forums!
-
Oh yeah.

1 RespuestaThe only people that are still playing fit into one of these categories: 1. The Addicted Collector 2. The PvP sweat 3. The filthy Casual The game has less content than Vanilla despite having three "expansions"
