Do you think when your on your death bed, you'll think...wow I poured hundreds/thousands of hours into a game, grinding for gear that didn't effect anything...
...I could have learned to code, met women, learn a second language, work overtime, spend time with loved ones, swim in the ocean naked...basically anything other than repeating the same things over and over for no reason?
I have spent a few hundred hours on this game. It won't take up a minute more of my time.
EDIT: Well that escalated quickly.
Listen. A lot of people have missed the point.
It wasn't a step by step guide for YOUR life. (How could it be? I don't know you) Just a simple thought I had. Plus my gripe is about doing the same thing repeatedly. The grind. Never ending. Relentless.
If you want to spend the next 10,000 hours running around the cosmodrome or killing oryx over and over OR WHATEVER. Be my guest. It's your life. Only you can make that choice.
Me though. I'm done.
EDIT: Wow where is Butthurt when you need him? Maybe we should have like a bat signal for him. He would love these responses...

1 RespuestaThe Grind: Grinding your school textbook learning how to code, learn a second language, etc... Grinding the countless nights out trying to meet women/men. Grinding at work for those few extra dollars, so you have peace of mind to enjoy time with your loved ones. Grinding to learn how to swim. The grind is real. No mater where you are. Just try to enjoy life.

2 RespuestasWhen I'm on my deathbed, I'm going to thank myself for "wasting" all of that time on games like Destiny to relieve the sheer amount of stress I endure so I wouldn't literally kill myself.
-
What's this "life" you talk about?
-
As long as i enjoy what I do then I don't mind
-
2 RespuestasEveryone watches movies.. Also films are wasting of time.. You get nothing from watching a film. In about 16/20 years you will see around 50 movies... 2 hours per film... A hundred of hours. Playing destiny, but videogames generally, is a way to enjoy your free time having fun. Anyway, the life is yours and you're free to do all you want. Opinions are opinions De gustibus

You realize same stuff applies to all time spent on all forms of entertainment. Including the writing and reading the this post as well as this reply. As first world citizens we spend most of our time, wasting it.
-
I wasted about 10 minutes reading this post, nub...
-
This can be said about all games.. Seriously

Nothing is a waste of time if you enjoy it.
For the record I don't play this game anymore.
-
Obviously having fun is a total waste

3 RespuestasI'll die by Riding a t-rex into hell, while wielding a battle axe fighting demons. While I sing "never going to give you up" .
-
I learned this and today was the first day I logged back into destiny after a month of being gone. I just logged on played daily and called it a day.
-
personally I'm quitting destiny and games in general soon but I never see any of those hours I had having fun on a game with my friend wasted.
-
Your wadtimg your time saying on the forums saying we are wasting our time. Slight hypocrite?
-
2 RespuestasWell... since I play from midnight to around 2 or 3, all I'll really regret at the end is not sleeping as much as I could have. But since I hate sleeping, no... no regrets. I have all the other stuff anyway :)
-
Swim in the ocean naked? No thanks. I've seen what washes up on the shore. Too many people treat the ocean like a trash can.
-
Time spent enjoying doing something is not time wasted. At least in my case, I don't know about yours.
-
Well, I have fun, so there's that. :)

1 RespuestaAround 9 years ago I played a game called Ragnarok online. Me and my friends must've put in at least a years worth of time into it. We would go to the shops stock up on food and do 3 or 4 days in a row. We always look back at it as one of the best games we used to play but now it's not so popular anymore that only a few hundred play on a server. When you are a gamer it's not about the hours you put in. It's about all the times you had fun. All the struggles along the way. Doing the glass vault when it first came out as a level 26 was one of my favourite times in destiny so far. Not knowing of any easy way to do things. Rarely anyone had "op" weapons so we all had to work as a team. Best thing is. I don't regret playing games as much as I do. And I never will. It started as an escape when I was young from the boring world and now it's a way to play with friends from all over the world. In reality people hate each other, people judge how they are by their skin colour. In gaming none of that exists. I'd rather remember all the good fun times in a game than all the government changed media about each country.

Seriously man, you should seek help. I said it before, but after your edits it's even more apparent that you are really struggling with something.
-
When I swim in the ocean, I'm a fully covered and armed deadly predator entering the food chain in order to feed myself and my family. The ocean is a mean, unforgiving place. Don't go in it naked. You could end up like a buddy of mine and his girlfriend...... box jellyfish stings on their private parts.
