Why does everyone think 1000 Yard Stare > Black Spindle?
So I've seen a lot of posts about how 1000 Y.S. is better DPS than B.S. However this is impossible: the black spindle effectively has an 18 round magazine that you don't have to reload. Over the course of firing all your special ammo, BS will get more damage done in a given period, eg the damage phase on Warpriest.
Seems to me the people claiming otherwise are just those that couldn't clear the final room on the BS mission...

Edit 2: I am talking about DPS here, not general utility. BS isn't made for being good in loads of situations, it's made for massive DPS on bosses and big targets
Edit 3: people don't seem to understand: [b][u]I am only talking about DPS[/u][/b]. I don't care that it's legendary/more versatile/whatever, I'm making a point that in terms of pure DPS, the best that TYS can do is come close, and that's if you have a perfect rolled sniper and armour.

2 RespuestasFor general use, 1000 Yard Stare, for bosses with large critical spots, Black Spindle. My reasoning? 1000 Yard Stare has enough impact to 1 shot most normal enemies, such as Hive Sword Knights and can be custom build for added effects. Black Spindle completely removes the reload times if hitting critical areas consecutively and has more impact than 1000 Yard Stare, if not the most of all sniper rifles. HOWEVER, depending on the other 2 weapons and the Perks on the 1000 Yard Stare, it can theoretically pump out more DPS than Black Spindle alone. I.E. 1000 Yard Stare with Triple Tap, Skip Rounds/High Caliber (increase to impact), Doom of Chelchis and Quillim's Terminus would dish out more DPS than simply unloading Black Spindle by itself.

Black Spindle is better for by far but people like 1000 Yard because it's great it PVE and PvP.

For dps on bosses that have easy to hit critical spots black spindle is great. For absolutely everything else 1000 yard stare is better by far. [spoiler]unless you want to one shot a sunbreaker in pvp[/spoiler]

I don't like to switch weapons plus my 1k stare has a higher light lvl than my bs and i somehow out dps everone else. Maybe its because i dont sacrifice my light lvl to use bs

6 RespuestasMine has triple tap, appended magazine and spray and play. It turns the five round clip to seven and in an aura the reload is almost nothing. With 18 round reserve I get 26 shots. It's pretty good I think. I don't think the 1000 yard is inherently better than BS but it certainly can be.

Besides, if you miss a critical shot, the reload is terribly slow for the Black Spindle. Black Spindle also holds less reserve ammo, I get 18 for black spindle, and 23 for 1000-yard stare. Also doesn't take an exotic slot. If you miss ONE shot with black spindle, your dps is screwed due to reload, where 1000-yard stare if you miss one shot, who cares.

There are only 2 kinds of people who think the black spindle is shit for dps 1. The salty as -blam!- black hammer abuser who couldn't clear the final room and get his. 2. The salty as -blam!- bad player who couldn't clear the final room and feel the need to defend 1000 YS Incase the next hard activity is black spindle required on the LFG sites
