So, beat Oryx last night without the strat. Read about and watched the no knight strat and whaddya know everyone on lfg is using it today when I decide to finish up on my hunter. So I'm like, "Cool I've seen this strat, its gonna be easy!" Well, 10 lfg random groups later and Oryx isn't dead. For the first couple hours I shake it off no problem, just random weird mistakes happening. Funny thing is, these weird little mistakes KEEP happening. Finally I find a group not using this strategy(been trying to convince other teams to do it normal way for about an hour.) And voila, we beat it.
So my question is, how many of you beat Oryx with the "no knight" strategy? On paper the strategy looks so fool proof. In practice its seems that there's always that one little weird death/mistake that happens.
Edit: So three "no knight" completions later and my outlook on "no knights" is different. I have beat hard mode three times killing the knights and three times without. There are a couple nuances that make the strategy very viable if applied. First is, if you are taking a platform, sit down and don't throw a grenade, fire a shot, nothing. Let the floaters do all the dps on the ogres and they wont fire at you. As soon as the relic runner has the relic, jump to the platform and get safe asap. Once the stagger is complete, 5 second count down. The ogres should die the second the countdown ends, not before. Jump down, detonate bombs, rinse and repeat. Did this with two random groups last night. Killed Oryx in 2 trys for the first group and three for the second. This method when applied cuts the time the team is at risk by alot. Anyway, we'll see which way wins out in the end. Good luck guardians!
On a side note, has anyone looked over the edge and noticed how small Oryx's feet are?

no knight strat seems to only be viable if you have a) bubble bro and self res on every plate or b) luck, it's almost impossible to control whether you will die or not during the no knight strat. doing it killing the ogres and knights is easy.
-
I've beaten Hard using only that strategy. I feel like it can be both more and less demanding. Bombs won't be in set locations which adds a little chaos to the detonation part, but there aren't any adds or Knights which makes some of it a little easier, but then again some people don't know how to hide from Ogre attacks. It's a lot of pros and cons. I don't think it's a cheese nor do I really think it's any easier than the established method. It really just comes down to personal preferences.

Beat oryx using the normal mode strategy 4 times now, failed the no knights strategy more times then I can count. It works in theory but it's not practical in reality. Why try to fix something that isn't broken? Kill ogre, then kill knight. Not that big of a difference from what whe have been doing.
-
yeah, i have never beaten oryx with no knight strat. no knight strat has too many random factors that can go wrong. the "double bubble" strategy is very controlled, and you can easily see who the weakest link is, and you can see it how it's working as it's working, and understand it and see how easy it is when everybody does their job right.

3 RespuestasI have beat it both ways and they both have their ups and downs, the no knight way seems easier but opens up more confusion and unpredictable situations for people that don't know what to do, the hardest part for most on the traditional way is killing their knight fast enough so they don't get lasered down by the Acolyte Eyes that spawn. Going to try a mixture of the two tonight, where we do kill the ogres and the knights but with the 6th man on the daughters pillar sniping the knights out for the platform guys, hopefully it is smooth. I find it hard for groups to really be consistent with either method honestly.

1 RespuestaThat's what I've been saying. I kill my Knights no problem but someone else on the fireteam always leaves theirs up. Funny thing is people who can flawlessly pull off the no knight method have the skill to pull off the normal method.

Editado por ford0fy: 10/27/2015 4:13:43 PMWe run the normal strategy except after homeboy gets the relic we jump up with the Titans and get clear of the ads and help finish killing ogres and light eaters. Until he steals the shield from the night and makes it to about mid, then we jump down and finish him off then shoot oryx and detonate. Boom
-
Takes two snipe headshots to kill them, that strat is for lazy people or people who can't kill
-
1 RespuestaIts a new strategy. Some people need experience doing new things before they get it down. Majority of players are underleveled so it makes it that much more difficult. Lfg wont be as frustrating here in a few weeks.
-
The group I beat it last night also didn't use the no knight strategy. We did it where three of us were assigned a plate number not a plate. So I was number 2 and no matter what I was the second to jump on the plate. This made it so our two floaters were constantly known and helping with knights and ogres. The only other hitch with "our" strategy is that we had five titans and a hunter (runner). So we had constant bubbles in the center of the map (one blessing, one weapons). If you look at my XBL profile you can see us finish off Oryx. Notice the four bubbles. We like bubbles.

no knight is good for now coz as some people say everyone is like 307 light its hard taking down everything. you need a bit of luck and good players who can hold their own.
-
Beat oryx twice normal and once no knight. After getting matched with bad teams all day, I finally joined a decent team and no knight was a cake walk. The issue is with crappy lfg players that can't even avoid dying in this strategy. I was with teams where players failed to make jumps, hit the ship, stood still so adds hit them while detonating, and anything else you could probably think of.

Editado por PrOyKaEnR: 10/27/2015 10:03:42 AMBeat it on all 3 characters without the strategy. We tried it out a couple of times and didn't like it. It's so easy to kill your ogre and turn around and two shot a red knight, no real reason to leave big ogres shooting at you alive whilst you wait for the relic holder to jump down. Then the relic holder has to run through that shit to get the shield. If you like it this new way then that's cool, whatever works for you! Not saying it's a bad way but it's definitely a 'cheese'. I have cheesed other raids and that's fine but a 'cheese' involves you skipping mechanics and that's exactly what you do, doesn't mean it isn't still a strategy though.

I agree

Best Strat I found: 2 titans on deathsinger platforms. Pop WOL and BOL with extended duration. 3 platformers assigned 1,2 and 3. One titan assigned 4. Oryx platform = 1 and increasing number = counter clockwise platform rotation. Platform you are on = ogre orb you run into. Two titans with malice flatten the ogres, however a sniper shot or two from platformers is nice. Platformers then focus on knights and adds. Relic is grabbed, vessel shield stolen, everyone runs in bla bla bla we all know the rest. This strat makes it easy mode.
-
2 RespuestasBy not killing the light eater knights you stop tons of ads spawning in and destroying players. The ogre cheese is an easy method, your either just bad or run with bad teams
-
Beat it normally in 2 wipes...
-
We used it, you just need a couple Titans and hope everyone stays alive.
-
I agree. It over complicated what's already simple as fück
-
We had the same team we already beat oryx with, and we couldn't beat him after an hour of this strat. We are not some randoms who can't communicate, we are good players who beat oryx hard on the first day. Its very unreliable.
-
Ikr! The titan bubble strat is 1000000x better
-
Once with the Knights and once without. If everyone was lvl 315 it wouldn't be an issue we wouldn't be out gunned. But being we are all 310 or 311 we have to do a flawless run and like it or not that's a bitch
-
One group I was with weren't good enough to do it. I had another group and we did it within an hour and a half. You have to get lucky, even with the easy strat
-
2 Respuestasit's probably the go-to strat for underleveled, under skilled players. for guys that are properly prepared (310 plus, 20+ nm completions) the normal mechanic will be easier, cleaner and more efficient
-
We did the normal strat and I didn't think it was bad at all. It was before we knew about the no knight strat, but I like the way we did it.
-
4 RespuestasI finished using bubble and no knight strat. I think the no knight strat is easy. The scrubs that attempt it are the problem. There's always that one guy that dies 75% more than the rest of us
