I found this on Reddit when I searched for anyone else having recent issues redeeming gift cards. I recently purchased a $50 gift card from my local grocery market and it would not redeem. I contacted Sony and was asked to email a front and back photo copy of the gift card as well as a receipt. I did what they asked only to hear back that it was not able to be refunded or reissued. I was told to take it back to where it was purchased or call the company that printed the cards to see about getting it exchanged! Why did I buy a gift card instead of adding funds from my credit card to my PSN wallet? Simply put the grocery market offered 10 cents off every gallon of gas for every $50 spent at their establishment. Although it may not be directly Sonys fault. Sony should right this wrong since their company is however directly involved with recieving profits from the gift cards.
Here is a link that talks about other peoples experience with the way Sony has been handling the problem!!!!

Im still kind of new to these forums. I thought my resolution response I posted would have attached directly beneath my original topic. Here is the link to the outcome https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/164984837/0/0/1 I hope this dosent happen to anyone! Lots of wasted time! If it does, I hope my experience helps you through it. I have never had a problem with PSN gift cards in the past but this is an experience that makes me never want to purchase another one again.

2 RespuestasI appreciate all the replies. I did read most of the replies. Respect for whatever gaming platform you prefer. I will always be a fan of the Playstation console. Maybe not PSN customer service. I did read the date to the article it was the most current article I found and I posted it because it described the issue I was having. If you do search related issues there are occurrences just about every year. Anyway I wanted to write a update to give closure to this topic. I talked to customer service again and the gentleman agreed with my every point and said that he still can do nothing. I was redirected to go back to the store for a refund. The store said I would need to call their 800 # I demanded a refund or I was taking it to the media. So the store clerk called the general manager who then told her to refund my money. Bottom line is all the time I have lost resolving this issue was not worth 10 cents off every gallon of gas for 1 fill up. I will however be adding funds directly to my PSN wallet. No more gifts cards for me.

Go to your SEN account on the Sony website and then try to deactivate all your systems. Reactivate all your system that you're playing on. (The problem is maybe you shared account with other people).

I didn't have issues with my 50 dollar one

If you threaten a lawsuit, youll probably be compensated due to a lawsuit wasting lots of their money.

Sounds like Giant Eagle, also they have always had this problem. Lost out on $20 because of it, ended up just letting it go, wasn't worth the trouble after a week.
-
Worked fine for me with my 20 yesterday

It was about half a year ago, but I remember some chick saying that her and her husband had their ps license stolen into their console. So the thief had a free half years worth of psn. When that OP had called customer service they said they couldn't do anything and had to let the guy use up the rest of time instead of stopping it or refunding

Wow I bought a $50 psn gift card weeks ago and it worked out

I hear lots of people saying microsoft's customer service is way better. It probably is, but luckily I've only had one problem so far, when my PS4 didn't work anymore at all. Luckily, I got a new one the next day (at the time some couldn't even buy one). That was cool, but I lost all my data. Ever since then I've used my cloud service to save my game data. Little offtopic, but just felt like writing this lol

1 RespuestaI've heard of Sony having extremely shitty customer service. Happy i game on Xbox more, a situation almodt exactly like this happened to me on my 360, MS took care of it. I may be fanboying but quite frankly i don't care.

This better be fixed by Christmas...

When it comes to redeeming codes, Sony is shit. I tried redeeming some codes for the PS3, and the didn't work. Almost all of them didn't. It looks like they got their shit together though. (Not the gift cards. The promo codes you get from new games)
