Bungie, Your Sandbox Designers Are Still Failing Miserably At Balancing The PvP

Remember a few months ago when everyone used to complain about Thorn/The Last Word/Hawkmoon? This idea that you pretty much had to use one type of weapon in order to stay competitive? How you'd join a game of Iron Banner and literally every single person in the lobby was using a Hand Cannon? We all disliked it..... It was boring. Pair that with the shotguns, and the game just wasn't fun. There was a community outcry to have it changed, so Bungie put out patch 2.0 with TTK. Yet here we are, 7-8 weeks later, still stuck with an unbalanced mess of a game, even after the 'Holy Grail' of balance patches in 2.0. The only difference is, this Iron Banner, instead of being forced to use Hand Cannons, we're now having to use Pulse Rifles (which are even easier to use than Hand Cannons ever were) Instead of entire teams of Bladedancer Hunters, now it's all Sunbreaker Titans. Pre 2.0, everyone used the same shotgun. Post 2.0 everyone uses the same shotgun. Some pretty bad decisions off the top of my head: *Final Round, a broken perk that allowed a sniper to OHK to the body was removed/changed............. In TTK, Luck in The Chamber is introduced to High Impact Sniper RIfles, allowing them to OHK to the body * The dominant PvP weapon pre 1.1.1, Auto Rifles, were nerfed heavily leading to a meta where Hand Cannons ruled. The nerfs were largely down to an exotic, Suros Regime.............. The dominant PvP weapon pre 2.0, Hand Cannons, are nerfed heavily, leading to a meta where Pulse Rifles dominate. The nerfs are down to exotics, Thorn/The Last Word * Shot Package is removed from shotguns in an attempt to solve the shotgun epidemic plaguing the Crucible....... Weeks after a 300 attack High Impact Shotgun with RangeFinder is given to every player *A large factor in the shotgun abuse was the Vanilla map design of tiny claustrophobic maps which favour heavy shotgun use.......... In TTK, the majority of the maps are tiny claustrophobic maps, which favour heavy shotgun use * The Sandbox Designers make range & damage drop off an important aspect of weapon balance after Hand Cannons have seemingly no damage drop off........ Every weapon type suffers severe damage drop off. Pulse Rifles have seemingly no damage drop off *Sunbreakers and Stormcallers are released in the most gamebreaking state....... Seriously, were these even tested?! Now I'm not saying the game should be perfect. there are a Hell of a lot of variables to balance, which make this a complicated process.... But to see these poor decisions being made so consistently is incredibly frustrating as a PvP player. To have a game with such potential being squandered by imbalance patch after patch is very disappointing. Just my thoughts. - An avid PvP player since the Beta

Then proceed to tbag me worse than a halo player on steroids.......

Listen, I don't want to hear that Bull about Bungie "trying" they aren't trying to do anything. They made Halo for years and for years they were complacent. Same guns same gear same everything. They sold that. Now they are screwing us over with this penny pinching. Instead of trying to scam me into buying Silver for a F ing Carlton Dance, they should be fixing this shit right. Give me what I paid for first b4 selling me another Kechup Pop or a snowball sandwich. They didn't test Iron Banner at all. They didn't test sunbreakers. They just launched this garbage because our asses had already forked over the clams. Now most of us don't agree on everything and sometimes we don't get along on here, but for the most part we do agree that PVP is ridiculous and those shotguns are clown. Each person doesn't need 50 rounds of shotgun ammo per match anyway. If they limit the amount of rounds to say 5. That would force some more skill out of this baby. They won't because they want you to pour money out of your pockets into this trash. See, as long as they keep pretending they didn't realize they made an error they can keep charging us for the next version that is supposed to be fixed. Well, Halo 5, Fallout 4, Just Cause 3, Rainbow 6, Black ops, and many others are on the F ing way now. I can give a rats ass about the hard raid so I can run around with the same gear as everyone else to be light level 310. I can wear the same thing as everyone else in Halo with no Grind. If the current next Gen consoles (XBoxOne & PS4) had more of their regular heavy hitter games out already, the Taken King Sales numbers would have sucked ass. The only reason most of us are even playing this shit is because there is nothing else to play. I got 200% on Batman Arkham Knight in a week so I had nothing else. Same with Witcher 3. I remember during that time Destiny looked like a F ing funeral home. No one was there and no one wanted to be. Seriously the Jokes over... This is Bullshit

          • No matter what they do some gun is going to stand out more than others. Thats the way its been in literally any other shooter in existence. Its just the majority of destiny gamers are just whiny little bitches which is why the meta keeps changing so drastically. Stop -blam!-ing crying about every single -blam!-ing thing that kills you in the -blam!-ing crucible for -blam!-s sake. -blam!-.

          • Nature abhors a vaccum'. If you take away hand cannons, pulse rifles rise, nerf pulse rifles watch out for auto rifles, auto rifles die (again) get ready for the scouts. And so on and so on. There is no easy solution to this issue. But, with the ttk at least we are getting updates regularly.

          • I've said it before and I'm sure I'll have to say it again. If you expect to use one gun for every map in every situation and own everybody, it's not going to happen. You have to choose your load-out depending on the map you're on, and you will have to pick and choose your battles. Crucible is the most balanced it's been since launch, is it perfect, no, but they are getting there.
Sunbreakers are OP as fuk! :)
• You must be blind. Pvp finally has a variety. I see people using fusions and side arms just as much as shotguns and snipers. Pulse rifles are very reliable, but not the only answer. Scouts are great. The Tlaloc especially. Hand cannons, while having no range they still own up close. Auto rifles - sneaky up close bastards. We can finally choose what guns we want and still do well.

                    • I agree with most of these points, especially them giving everyone a high range, high i pact shotgun with rangefinder (fucing REALLY?), but I do think balance is better overall. That being said, looking forward to the next balance patch!

I guess I'm bad because I use a shotgun in close quarters and my primary for mid-long range, instead of always using a sniper including at those close ranges. I'm just not Xx420MLG2DaNkNoScOpExX

                      • One shot to the body wasn't the problem, it's the fact that people exploited the final round, with the inability to know when the one shot is, no-one can exploit it
