How does Sony beat MS in exclusivity deals?
No trolling, i was genuinely wondering, surely Microsoft have a lot more money than Sony. So how does Sony keep outdoing them in the big deals such as Destiny, Uncharted and now Black Ops 3. It makes no sense to me.

Because Microsoft is focusing on 1st party games and working on this windows 10 update coming out next month not to mentions backwards compatability etc. This supposed to be a ridiculous update. I can see xbox one selling a shitload of consoles this christmas.

microsoft doesnt really care about their xbox branch, so doesnt invest as much in it. most of microsofts money goes to other branches. so when activision was trying to make a deal sony was able to offer more money than microsoft. plus there may have been a bit of activision and bungie salt towards microsoft with their past dealings. when a game is realeased solely on one console usually is because the platform helped with the development fees, the developers only had the resources to develop for one console, etc.

Naturally, this included shoring up exclusive items from various game devs and publishers. It was a smart move for them at the time due to their shrinking market share in the TV market (which accounted for a massive portion of Sony's profits). Microsoft didn't find it necessary to do this since their market share in the PC and GUI market is all but guaranteed (in addition to the multiple other markets they are in). They don't need to put forth the extra money and effort for these exclusive items because they aren't trying to make up for a failing sector of their company. This isn't a fan boy thing guys, this is the economics behind the curtains. Sony's move was done out of necessity. If they hadn't concentrated so heavily on the PS4 and exclusives, Sony might not exist. The PS4 almost literally saved Sony as a company....but they aren't out of the storm yet.

Because Microsoft if too busy making real products (Surface Pro 4, Surface Book, etc) which kick some real butt. I'm planning on getting a new Surface Book later this month after I've had a chance to try one out in person. Regarding consoles - I've been a PS user since the original one came out. With each new generation I have not seen a reason to change.
