Yesterday, I finally joined a group with a friendly lvl 290 requirement to raid. *Lesson Learned*

First of all, if your curious go look at my history. I spend 12 hours grinding strikes from lvl 284 to 290, I was stuck at 289 for half that time, and after numerous hours of horse shit RNG, bullshit exotic engram giving me a third hawkmoon, and playing Rasputin, Undying Mind, Cabal Twins, Taniks, and Valus strikes, I finally got to raid. It wasn't from the beginning, apparently it started from totems. I joined a group with diverse levels, and I went into the raid blind. I was a bit handicapped as I was using an autorifle primary, and I usually don't like running raids without something that packs a punch, but I had to due to the light level. Anyway here's what happen. After one kid left and rejoined because he sucked at jumping, we arrived at the two totem room. At first I was a bit confused with what my role was, but after an explanation I figured it out immediately. It was basically similar to the crota bridge totem hold. we just had to rotate positions based on the relic, and deathsinger timer. *including cleansing in the middle* It was relatively simple. The only problem was my teammates, who were higher levels than me, with better guns dying out of stupidity and carelessness. Everytime. I'm the only one shooting the knights, while my dumbass totem partner is shooting at a wall, not wondering why he's getting hurt from above. I had to cover his back, and front while fighting, and dodging the knight's boomtube. Ironically, he later died from thrall molestation, because I had to rotate. He was shooting at acolytes, when they weren't an immediate threat anyway, and ignored his radar like an amateur. The fact I held my own with an auto rifle. *even when i ran out of ammo* and secured the totem from enemies by myself while my teammates died across the room, or nearby, makes me finally realize why lfg requirements are so high. When there are morons, there is failure. So thank those individuals. This is REMINDING me of those GHALLY ONLY LOBBIES from year 1. it took me forever to get one, and when i finally join the numerous elitist lobbies, The people requiring them play worse than the people in lobbies without an GHALLY Requirement. 293 or 295+ Light Required for a lvl 290 Raid? So now I have to unnecessarily grind strikes, so i can join a group that either sucks donkey balls, OR have their heads so far up their own asses that I have to take off my own mic to prevent braincell loss, OR if I'm lucky skilled individuals, who posted out of general consensus, and even that's a game of chance. RNG Guardians is what lfg should be called now. Random Number Generated Guardians. 1 out of 10 raids you join will have a legendary/exotic group that has guardians with skill enough to actually complete the raid without a dozen or more wipes. Yup. This is what being a solo player in Destiny looks like now. Everyone has grouped up and forced me to grind STRIKES for gear that is near impossible to obtain to continue progression. My Former Destiny Friends/Group have Internet problems, financial problems with living expenses, Abandonment issues regarding year 1, and flat out hate the game. That's Four reasons for Four people. I wouldn't give two shits about the lfg requirements, if I had any one of those friends online today, but i don't. Life Lesson: FML

  • Those people that ask for 300+ light level for a raid, those are the people that wanna get carried. I'll happily play with 280+ for the raid if they know what they are doing.

        • I'm 306 light. And have touch of malice. Soon as sisters hit I alone break 500k per round easy. I don't normally require a light lvl anymore. I just ask for cool minded and experience. Unless I don't mind helping then just people that don't flip out. I hate when people mess up and don't care then when someone else messes up they start cussing them out. Like seriously chill

          • Ugh, agreed. Huge pain in the ass using lfg... If you're tagging on to a pre made group and anyone makes a mistake it's your fault. If you're all random then it's the fault of the lowest light guy. It doesn't matter who actually made a mistake, of course.

          • Honestly, you should only join groups asking for a reasonable light. Groups with emblem requirements and other crazy requests are usually struggling. I also only make my own groups and my requirement is 295 light and a decent sniper. Never once had a problem going all the way through in decent time.

              • Ill raid with anyone that can hold their own. Yesterday helped a group of 5 friends beat oryx. Only 1 had done it before and the other 4 had yet to beat him but they had tried a couple of times. Our team consisted of levels 306 (me), 299 (guy who had beaten it), a 293, 2 290s, and a 287. We got him down within 30 minutes of trying, I dont really understand why people are so elitist about the raid. I can understand people wanting players who have some experience as it can be frustrating to have to explain the encounters multiple times each week. Hopefully in the future once players start hitting higher levels they will realize that 2 305+ can basically carry a team of 290ish or less light players. Assuming they can hold their own and not die.

290 light is the recommended light for the raid. The end of the raid increases in difficulty (Oryx section) the light level of the enemies is 300, which is why people suggest 295+. However these ARE only recommendations, first time I finished it we had 3 people under 290 and only one above 295... Higher light makes it easier, but what makes the most difference is partially that the team knows the raid but further than that, the leader knows exactly what everyone is doing and can correct them if he notices something wrong all while keeping calm about any wipes you may have. I'd offer to personally help you with the raid but I can see you're on Xbox, so instead I'll wish you luck finding a team. Seems to be some nice guardians in here offering you for Xbox, take them up on the offer! :) EDIT: People artificially make the Oryx fight harder by all standing on the platforms (All 4) when actually only THREE need to be stood on (The last platform is not needed, which frees an extra guardian to assist with all ogres rather than just their half)

              • The raid was 4 manned by a team around 195-197 and one of them and s 12 years old, the legend himself (slayerage and his team) and 2 of them took out oryx not 6 not 4 but 2, from what I've seen its not hard just doing your job and not running a Rambo.

try court oryx - any level - does not matter if you have no runes, good stuff still drops - well, it will get you up to 295 anyway, did for me. LFG is too elitist, should be various avenues to top light levels but Bungie have their tongue too far up LFG arses to ever change.

I honestly don't know how you people find these so called elitist players, I have done the raid around 6 times and I have not once found a group that is rude or bad, every group I get into finishes it in around 2 hours with the exception of the very first time. Also we usually have fun doing it. Just because a group is asking for a 295+ light doesn't mean they are elitists its just a way of filtering out bad players and or people who are too stupid too actually look up the fights before going into the raid, not saying that light makes you a good player, but it does play a part in it. My opinion may not matter since I am 306 and I can get into virtually any group I please. Also keep in mind that I use LFG, I have no friends that play this game anymore and I find LFG a great place to find groups and even meet some cool people along the way.

                  • A group of 6 between 288 and 292 can finish the raid no problem. If you're group is in that range and they can't do it, find a new group.

                    • I got a 280 to beat the raid with my group, i have set a minimum of 280 light for my groups, but you need to know what to do (if they don't i direct them to datto's video's and add any information that we do different)
