Edit 3 : This thread is about a definite, 100% answer to Year 1 Ascension.
Edit 4 : We were the highest rated feedback thread for about 5 minutes. Keep it up :)
Edit 5 : Me, Malphisto, and Lost Sols had *ALL* our top threads butchered. Trying to fix the damage.
Before I say anything, I would ask that everyone "like" or "bump" this post, even if you disagree with me.
Either way, one side will get the answer they are looking for, right or wrong.
Bungie, I am about to dismantle every single piece of armor and weapon from Year 1 that I have, in order to have materials, under the sole and undisputed fact that you will never let us ascend year 1 items.
I have kept my Year 1 weapons and armor my entire career. I have ascended them with every DLC. They are my prized possessions. But now I am told that it is clear and undisputed that we will never have PRACTICAL use for them ever again.
Even with double bank space, there is not enough. I am left to make a choice.
I can either stop gaining new weapons/armor - and just keep my old stuff.
OR.
I can dismantle all of my old stuff, under the pretense it will never be PRACTICALLY useable again, and move on.
Fact of the matter, I don't have the space or the sentimentality to keep these weapons if you are 100% positive you will never ascend them in any way, ever.
SO I ASK YOU ONE LAST TIME, BUNGIE.
Will you *EVER* let us ascend year 1 gear. Even if it's 12 months in the future?
WILL WE EVER GET TO ASCEND YEAR 1 ITEMS TO THE "CURRENT" GENERATION OF POWER?
(example, if it is year 2, year 2 ascension, if it is year 3, year 3 ascension)
I would like a 100%, quotable response that I can hold on to.
I don't want regrets.
I can live, knowing I can never practically use my hard earned year 1 items.
But I will be very sad if I dismantle everything now, only to find out that you change your mind next year.
An answer, please.
AGAIN !! Please, for all of us. No more red tape. No more fine print. No more hoops. Just a 100% answer.

EDIT : I appreciate the support. This is starting to look like one of the best threads out there right now to get a definitive answer. Keep it up guys :) I'm not the person keeping this thread at the top of trending and full of bumps. It's you guys. Get your gear back!!
EDIT 2 : Changed title to try to grab Cozmo or DeeJ or anyone's attention.
EDIT 6 : got a message wondering why i'm skipping a lot of posts, simply put, i got a lot of threads, can't reply to everything, sorry, but as always, your support is appreciated, good fighting, guardians

18 RespuestasGetting Y1 weapons be a pre-order bonus for sure with a Y2 DLC. But it will only be a bonus if you pre-order the Ultra-Mega-Super-Duper-Uber-Legendary-Guardian-of-Hopes-and-Dreams version. It will retail for $375 USD (for what should only be a $20-$25 USD DLC), and the only way to complete the pre-order is to pelt your TV with your wallet over and over. Once your wallet is sufficiently embedded in your TV screen, Luke Smith will reveal the final five characters in the pre-order code for an additional $49.95 "finders fee", and then Y1 weapons will be available to upgrade to Y2 maximums. And then three days later, Y3 will start. The Y1 and Y2 weapons will all be obsolete, as well as that DLC you just bought. But their new weapons will make you forget all about those Y1 weapons you just got back. They promise!!

Bump again
-
What they should've done is used moldering shards and raid gear only to infuse old raid gear forward which would force you to try the new content.
-
Bumping yet again...
-
They will in the next add on...As a selling point to draw people back in.

2 RespuestasIf they miraculously let us then those of us who broke down gear should be able to get it back

Either way VoG and the Crota raid still exists and if Bungie decided in the future to ascend these items that's exactly where they would point you, probably when content ideas slump, thus making us play old areas under the guise of new content, maybe.

Destiny was always advertised as an fps first, RPG second. This means year 1 weapons should NOT be made irrelevant.

Editado por hotwire232: 10/1/2015 5:40:25 AMAscension of Year One gear is not a viable strategy for an RPG game, such as Destiny. The loot system is comparable to popular MMORPGs, such as WoW, FFXIV and Rift, in which the playing field is levelled in terms of gear to allow people to be on par with each other for new major content, such as raids. In saying that, bringing old gear forward is not viable, especially when having released weapons that shattered realistic standards, such as Fatebringer and Gjallahorn, as it will throw out the balance of the new gear that has been developed, especially to fit the design of the new content.

3 RespuestasNo we won't because it doesn't fit the paywall model they "didn't explain well"
-
2 RespuestasWhile it isn't 100% I'd be willing to bet my first child we won't. For starters most of us have had to dismantle year one already, so if bungie came out and said, "Actually you can upgrade year one to year two," they'd have riots here.

You will probably not get a 100% certain answer, and I wouldn't trust it if someone were foolish enough to give you one. Most things in gaming and life are subject to change. Keep your favorites and shard the rest.
