Just pondering this topic while waiting for the tower to load one day:
When traveling between planets in Destiny, it usually takes between 10 and 30 seconds to arrive at your destination. However, planets are so incredibly far apart that that would not be possible, even at the speed of light.
Light takes about 8 minutes to reach Earth from the Sun and about 78 minutes to reach Saturn from the Sun. So, the distance between Earth and Saturn is about 70 light minutes (assuming the Earth and Saturn are lined up nicely).
So, next time when you are taking a trek back to the tower after patrolling the Dreadnaught, remember that you're completing a journey that takes at least an hour in just a few seconds :)

You never watched Star Wars did you. It's science fiction! Why is there a big white ball floating in the sky that can make it rain on Mars?
-
I think you're mistaking destiny with real life.
-
Maybe they live in the universe that mass effect is in.
-
It's a game.
-
Space magic is a valid answer
-
Ever heard of time dilation? Learn 2 relativity

3 RespuestasAnything in destiny doesn't aka scientific sense. I mean. What the -blam!- is spirit blooms made of?
-
THE ENTIRETY OF DESTINY DOESN'T MAKE SCIENTIFIC SENSE.

Video games,

2 RespuestasFor the others that also don't know. The ships use NLS drives (near light speed) so we aren't traveling light speed or beyond it

Editado por Sixsantavirus: 9/22/2015 6:37:15 PMLoad times to short bungie please nerf need 20 minute load times when loading to dreadnaught. But in all seriousness, 400 years ago people would have thought it was impossible to send a picture through the air (your phone) but we can do it today, in the future we can't even fathom what is to come, not to mention it's science fiction lol...

Space magic Also it's pretty arrogant to believe we already understand all the laws of the universe
-
Its a video game about space magic.......

Look up what a warp bubble is.
Also, look up the EM Drive. Real technology recently developed that was shown to create the mathematical blueprint for a warp bubble. Tested by Nasa and confirmed.
-
Probably warp drive based on the fact that it opens a portal when you take off.

1 RespuestaI think in the second mission it said we got a FTL drive (faster than light) but idk I might be wrong because I thought the same thing especially from earth to the moon
-
Tachyons travel faster than the speed of light and are the only pieces of matter that are fast enough to escape the gravity of a black hole. I guess we figured it out huh? Jump drive etc.
-
I'm assuming it's a warp drive. Hence the reason it looks like you're in a tunnel. Space is being pushed and pulled to allow you to travel faster than the speed of light technically.
-
Its called an FTL drive. Faster than light. It's a game.
-
It's a science-fiction game that includes magic another things that don't make sense
-
I hope you realize that between the fat space turtles, the fricken four-armed freaks, walking bacteria, and robots that have a god...that earth apparently had a golden age with supreme technology...so my response is...we salvaged some nice golden age technology didn't we?

1 RespuestaIf you want ~78 min load screens go play an unpatched version of bloodborne and pretend you are space traveling. I'm just picking on you though, its because space magic.
-
Do you really want it to take longer?
-
Dude... We are playing with characters that can bend light, space, and soon enough, time. Our characters can control lightning, solar energy, and the most impressive, void energy. Do you know what that means!?! So our ships being able to warp that fast is NOTHING! This is the future!

1 RespuestaYou can be revived from the dead You have God like superpowers, We're fighting zombies, robots, creatures with 4 arms, and fat monsters and THIS is where you draw the line?
