Literally millions of people are trying to download this update, right now. It's the largest update in Destiny history. Imagine for me: you have to push a couple million baseballs through a hole in a wall. If you try to push them all at the same time, you'll be able to get them through, sure, but it's going to be extremely strenuous and take a long time. Now imagine simply tossing a couple baseballs through the hole at a time. Much easier, no? The baseballs are of course the update, the hole being bungie's servers. You know what you can do to help the community and Bungie with this entire fiasco? Hold the power button on your console as if you were going to hard reset it. Now, just leave it off. It'll prevent background downloading. You'll stop being an excess baseball.
"But I want the update now, now, now, because I'm an impatient prick!" I hear you reply. I understand that, Mr. Impatient Prick. I feel your pain. But if you sacrifice just a couple hours (that weren't even going to help had you left the console on) the download will speed up for everyone else. It'll be faster when you attempt to download it again. How bad is that? It isn't. Stop being so impatient. And such a prick.

Are you setting an example by following your own advice? Or are you hoping *your* downloading will go faster if you convince enough others to wait? ;-)
