My real life obligations are my priority. For me, that's just a statement of fact, certainly not a boast. And I suck at games, especially compared to many of the other people who I play against or who are on my fireteam But just like my obligations are facts of life for me, so is my lack of skill, abilities or achievements are also facts. I don't make excuses for my obligations or for my shortcomings. They are what they are. Could I be better, or "git gud" if I spent more time and put more focus onto gaming? Maybe. Or perhaps my current level of suckage is something that I have accepted and I don't see any particular benefit to increasing the time that I currently spend gaming. When I am gaming with people that I know, they will tell you that I am usually the first person at the post game screen to laugh and point out my poor performance. It's not unusual to hear me say "[i]OMG, look at that, I almost made it into double digit kills and you guys were above or approaching 100! Why do you keep me around again[/i]?" Hell, if I can't laugh at my amazing lack of skill, who else will? And if we're playing with someone who doesn't know me, and they get to point out over voice chat "Hey Recon, you suck!" My reaction is usually to laugh and give a jokingly toned, "[i]what, did you think that I didn't know that? Dude, I see those sorts of numbers after every match. Trust me, you're not telling me anything that I don't already know![/i]" For me, it's a game, it's entertainment, it's meant to be fun, it's meant to be enjoyable time. And win, lose, or even at the bottom of the scorecard, if I wasn't having fun, I would be doing something else. The way that I look at it is that for everyone who has a >1 K/D, there has to be someone with a <1 K/D. That's how the math works. Everyone who a good player kills in order to increase that stat, someone else dies and their stat lowers. Total up and average out every player's K/D and the population average must be 1/1. I'm just happy to do my part.
