The only big difference in The Dark Below was the raid, a 3 exotics and 3 timed exclusive (to DLC) crucible maps.
House of Wolves had PoE, 3 exotics and Trials, and 4 crucible maps that might be timed exclusive to this DLC as well.
That's not that big of a difference considering all the changes they made to the game.

And trials is one of the most rewarding things in game.

I'd say its the only thing. Everything else was disappointing.
