Xur. Being able to buy such unique and powerful weapons from a vendor is ridiculous. I've seen a ton of ideas on ways to fix him, and I don't care how he gets fixed, I just want it fixed by the time Taken King comes out. I want to wear exotics that when people see me wearing it they say "Man.. How'd he get that? That's so rare!" And not "Man.. I hope Xur sells it this week!"
Take Hawkmoon and Gjallarhorn for example. Before Gjallarhorn was sold this week, it was the most sought after and most rare weapon alongside Hawkmoon and that is due to it not being sold by Xur ever except for well two when nobody wanted an exotic heavy.
Right now, 'exotic' is not a fitting term for that tier of weapons. The Taken King is a step in the right direction with quests and such to get the new exotics, but I don't want to go through getting a new exotic weapon or armor and being excited that I will be among the few to have it only to have Xur sell it that week and just be one of the millions that got it.
I get that you earn strange coins and that some exotics just won't drop for you. I'm missing the Hawkmoon and the Crux, but I'd never want Xur to sell such elusive items. It takes away their rarity and it becomes just another "exotic" that everyone has.
With all the steps Taken King is taking to move forward, not doing something about Xur would be 50 steps back. This is very much a shoot and loot game, and having some of the most sought after items be easily obtained through a vendor does not create epic moments at all. I, for one, do not feel like I've "Become Legend" after buying an exotic weapon.
I hope to see this changed; it needs to happen.
Edit- With all this said, I understand why the current Xur is important to people. Since RNG is cruel, is nice to have a guaranteed way of getting that one item you want. I'm not bashing people who "Xurn" I'm just saying that I think there needs to be a better system in place
Edit 2- I've taken out the part about losing value in exotics when Xur sells them bc you guys are right, what does it matter? There is no trading/barter system anyways. Also, for those of you calling me elitist, I'm not being elitist. I'm not being a special snow flake or whatever. I'm literally just wanting there to be a legitimate way of earning exotics. I don't see how I'm being elitist when I said I want people to admire rare armor I have. I mean, I want to look like a badass like nobody has seen so they'll be like "wow he did a lot of crap to get that". So yeah try not throwing around terms you kids read on the internet without knowing what they mean.

1 RespuestaIf they can fix their busted ass RNG system then I'm all for Xur disappearing or at least ceasing to sell exotics. But until then, Xur is the only semi-reliable way to get the exotics you need.
-
Obviously you've gotten a lot of people mad about this, but to be fair, no weapon in the game besides raid weapons are all that hard to get and even then not that hard. There are other ways to show off your pride, such as shaders, class items and emblems. Being a hipster and getting mad that everyone can buy a weapon you already have will get you no where. Ps, if everyone has gally, your raid will be easier so maybe try acting thankful.

Editado por CookieNiki: 8/16/2015 7:26:45 PMWithout Xur Destiny had lost much more players than already has. Xur helped keeping Destiny alive, no doubt about it.

I think that xur should stay there is still a fine line between bounty/raid exotics and xur exotics. I do see your point and rng likes me but it doesn't lIke most people so xur is necessary. So go around flashing your bounty exotics and not your gally bounty exotics are still the same and still hard to get.

1 RespuestaTldr; hey look at me, another elitist mouth breather.

4 RespuestasEditado por Spyro_UUFR5: 8/16/2015 3:20:40 PMAre you kidding? Xur is one of a dozen things that helps keep destiny alive. Besides this isn't raid gear we are talking about here. Gjallarhorn can be found by luck in crucible, strikes, raids, trials, nightfall, prison of elders, etc. LUCK. What about those who have no luck? Should they never be allowed a Gjallarhorn? I swear there are so many complainers in this community who really just hate destiny and try to ruin it for the rest of us. Thank god Deej knows your types are wrong.

So their grind is to wait for xur to sell what they don't have. I don't need xur, haven't needed him for along time. So taking him out wouldnt effect me none.

I have now literally seen threads like this for about a year now. And yet here Destiny is, still with flaws but still a fun and beloved game with many followers and players. Many of whom have been here since before day 1. Seriously, stop complaining and enjoy the damn game.
-
In other words your just worried about stroking your ego.

I have over 1000 hours into this game and I have every exotic except dregs promise. There are people on my friends list with more hours and still no gjallarhorn. Stop talking about how you put the time in and earned something when all you did was get lucky. I also don't know why you want to be the only one with a good exotic. I would have loved everyone to have gjallarhorns a month or two ago since it would have made a lot of activities less stressful.

5 RespuestasUmmm the whole premise of your post is to say you want people to be jealous that you have something that they don't. That's the very definition of being a special snowflake. Get over yourself. But hey, if you do want something that people will look at with awe and admiration, how about you max out your Grimoire? You know, something that actually takes work unlike just being lucky with RNG. Trust me, you'll get alot more Ooohs and awws from being 3665 then from having the Bones Of Eao months before Xur sold them. I've had 6 Gjallarhorns drop for me. It took me 5 months to get my first one, and it was a torturous hell of watching 35 of those damn things drop for other people before I finally got mine. It wasn't some epic moment, it was relief. And while it felt great to finally have it, if Xur had sold it in any of those other weeks when I had coins (I didn't have enough in week 2), it would have felt just as good if not better. I have 3 maxed out GHorns, and another in the postmaster, yet I bought one this weekend. Why? Because I -blam!-ing could! And it felt AWESOME! Even though I'll just delete it for vault space, to me it was 17 coins well spent. This is a good thing for the game and a great thing for the community. Xur is the great equalizer, balancing the crappy RNG with a guaranteed weekly drop. And even though most weeks his selection is crap, he sometimes has a week like this one where everything is great. And now, all those people who had to wait and wait to be blessed can finally join in the fun of having the GHorn.

I don't agree.

1 RespuestaGreat post. I agree 100%. Not everyone is supposed to have the best weapons in the game. If you're a casual player, why do you care? You get your casual guns and enjoy playing once in a while. But if you're a grinder and someone who has taken the time to get your weapons, It's a kick in the teeth for them to be given away for basically free. It's not about "being a snowflake" or an "elitist." It's about putting in the time to learn the game and learn the raids and want to be better and actually EARN better gear. And yes, grinding is EARNING. Putting the time in for your loot is earning it. If you think completing 2 weekly strikes for your strange coins is EARNING them, you're delusional. You don't get a brand new car after 30 minutes of work for 2 weeks, that's not how life works. If you expect handouts in games to get an edge on other players, well, I hate to break it to you but you're going to have a tough time learning to earn your living when you grow up. Just my 2 cents. Don't hate people for getting upset. It took me ages to get my gally, but when I got it, I was ecstatic. Besides, the game is meant to be played to get gear. What's the point in playing at all, when the best weapons are free?
-
1 RespuestaYou will need to update your quest for exotics portion, badjuju, thorn, pocket infinite and supergood advice haven't been sold by Xur, as far as I know. Xur only sells the exotics that drop from rng. Which makes them the common exotics. These are supposed to be the exotics anyone can get. The tough ones are supposed to be the HM raid items and quests, that only the dedicated would go after. Just pointing that out for everyone.
-
1 RespuestaAt the end of year one, I don't think it matters about any of our current exotics going forward. Year two will contain loads of new gear for us, so let people who didn't have Ghally play about with it for a few weeks. There'll be better things coming in TTK.

11 RespuestasI've always disliked Xur in the game. The word exotic cannot be applied to weapons that are handed out freely. At this point in the game, I think FateBringer is more rare than the game's best Rocket Launcher. This is unacceptable. What's the point of even grinding for exotics? Why go through RNG if Xur will sell every exotic in the game that's not conclusive to quest? There is none. Xur defeats the purpose of grinding for the best weapons and wether people see it or not, there needs to be a change. Introducing a reputation system for Xur along with bounties would do the trick. That way you actually have to work for them instead of doing two strikes to get your desired weapons. Another suggestion is to upgrade strange coins to a legendary currency or even an exotic currency. And making their drop rates conclusive to their tier. Another suggestion would be to have different prices for different exotics. This only makes sense since not all exotics are created equal. Another suggestion is to have the very best weapons available through quest, that way everyone has to work for them. No one gets a freebee. Wether that's from an engram or Xur. At this point in time, Xur is a handout and frankly ruins the whole point of grinding for exotics. There needs to be a change if this game is ever going to be taken seriously.

1 RespuestaFirst week of taken king Xur sells hawkmoon
-
The items xur sells are RNG just like weapon and armor drops in the rest of the game play. You saying that you want people going "oooo aaaaaa" at your armor is fine but you got the armor randomly like everyone else with exotic armor. Your just lucky and didn't do anything special for it.
-
Gjallarhorn shouldn't lose exotic status just because everyone has it. It is exotic because of the perks. C'mon, Wolf pack rounds man!
-
Here's a problem with your position. With the new rng drop changes, where the program algorithm is intended to give you items you haven't obtained yet, there will be fewer and fewer moments where someone says, "man, where'd he get that. That's so rare." Because as long as you play, you'll get it. Let me put it in an example, there are 3 new leg, 2 new arm, 3 new helmet, and 4 new chest exotic armor pieces (just throwing random numbers out), as long as I play events that drop exotics 12 times (and that's over 3 characters, a mere 4 times each, 4 NFs/4 srikes/4 whatever) there's a chance I'll get all 12. There may be a repeat a time or two, but even if you bump that to 16 times over 3 characters totaling 16 events, again, ain't that hard. I think Bungie made it so things aren't so hard to get and in doing so, ain't so rare either. They may keep one weapon (sleeper, for example) that isn't based on a drop but 50 parts and thus, increasing how often a player is seen with it. Point is, TTK isn't the destiny of today or the last year. Your dream of changing xur so you can feel special by being in a club of few owners is over. Destiny has changed and so has the drop rates and repetition rates. Imagine destiny is coming into the warm sun... and the snowflakes are melting.

2 RespuestasAgree with this full heartedly, if you play this game casually then you should expect casual gear, not the gear that people grinded hours for...

he sold jellyhorn twice in a year. most of what he sells isn't all that great.
