It's like Icebreaker all over again...
Let me throw an analogy at everyone. You have 2 men. Same age. Same IQ. Both men are wealthy.
Man 1 busted his ass, grinded, clawed and scratched his way to his wealth. He now sits on to of a multi-million dollar empire. This is an example of the people who bought Gjallahorn. They weren't gifted it. They didn't get it by luck or RNG. They endured the months of failure and disappoint until the chance to attain their goal by their own means finally came.
Man 2 has clawed and scratched the same way as Man 1 did, but one day is gifted a massive fortune by an unknown benefactor. He becomes instantly wealthy out of the clear blue nowhere.. This is the definition of those of us who attained it through RNG. Some of us just got plain old lucky. End of story. Doesn't matter how many raids you've completed or Nightfalls you've bested...it's luck. Plain and simple. To call it anything else is naive, jaded and imbecilic.
At the end of the day, the journey to the goal shouldn't be important. Attaining the prize is what matters. To those who benefited from RNG ...why the hell do you care how others get it? Isn't having stronger allies better? Noooooo...the entitled masses want to remain special snowflakes because they're spoiled brats. I love this community...but I hate how it conducts itself...namely on this forum.
Grow up, people . Seriously.

*applauds* People like you are rare on this forum, good sir.
-
Well said! I never understood how people equated having Ghorn to being good at the game. Also, Xur has sold it before...
-
RIGHT, YOU ARE!
-
Or the guy who bought Gjallarhorn just bought the game 2 weeks ago and got online and played 2 weekly strikes and bought it.
-
Edge case to the extreme. Either way as other replier said "does it really matter?"
-
And...how does this affect you exactly?

I don't care if I am man 2 I still busted my ass like everyone else did my success completing a nightfall, raid, Poe, vanguard strikes, crucible the only thing I think is rigged is that master rahool turns legendary engrams to exotics besides the point I work like man 1 and I get success I still had to make a character get it to level 20, get the gear like man 1 to do stuff, I work like man 1 but guess what I got the raise or RNG that is the thing with life you have to keep working till your successful my job took off and it worked you people need understand this and quit saying we didn't worked we ran through everything else you did we all work it is different how you get what you want that is the point I am trying to make and there are noobs that don't deserve the gun because they were carried but there are people like that all the time in life
life is fair because it isn't fair
Could have just said 'man 2 works hard, claws etc then wins lottery'

Well said!

I may have fallen in love with you

Except it's not hard to get strange coins
-
It's not about the difficulty of getting strange coins, it's about if Xur has in his inventory what you want. Just take a look at how long it took him to have Gjallahorn again...almost a whole year.
-
I personally think Xûr shouldn't be in the game period. He makes exotics too easy to get
-
You've not played many MMOs or MMO styled games before then, have you? There is always a system...usually a merchant, that allows players access to high level gear, not on a regular basis though. You also have to take into account Destiny's loot system is in a word...crap. If it weren't for Xur, You'd still have day 1 players with no exotics. Do you really want to play a game where there's that large a gulf in the power of the player base?
-
There are vendors in MMOs that sell valuable gear for valuable or a lot of currency. Exotics are pretty much the best weapons in the game, and MMO vendors don't sell the best gear for nothing.
-
If there were definitive means of getting exotics, I.E. quests...such as what will be included in TTK to get exotics, then no...Xur selling them wouldn't be needed. But sadly, Destiny's loot system is rubbish, so their has to be a means of getting exotic gear outside of mission rewards.
