As a matter of fact, I think this is not a good idea, voted no, and I do want to ascend old stuff...

Edit: actually they should remove the rank up system. You should just need to unlock the perks and fully rank it up once and then its rank stays consistent with your level. That would be the best way

No, it has to be a GRIND. We don't know that Etheric Light will exist in TTK.
