Bungie is forgetting about brand loyalty. Brand loyalty is why companies love offering student discounts. You lose a little here and there but in the long run you made much more money because that poor student grew up and is purchasing everything your company releases. Destiny 1 owners staying aboard for 2, 3, & 4 and bringing their friends along. I'm not saying Destiny should have a student discount. What I'm trying to say is that your decisions in Destiny 1 might cause people to own only that game and not purchase any other Destiny sequels due to your blatant mistreatment of formerly loyal customers. Scratch off any thought of those same players even buying any action figures if you keep going at this rate. You always want to present to a customer that they are receiving something and never want to have a negative stigma of something being taken away. Bungie is currently not doing a good job with positive reinforcement.

  • You want to do a couple things. Part of it is to, like you said, generate brand loyalty. Another part is to be inviting to new customers. I'm a day one player. I've done the raids, when they were the hardest. Its safe to say, I enjoy this game. The things I remember are VoG hard on 29. Thats something you can't really get anymore. Those experiences are what I will remember. I don't get any kicks from simply having been there when the Swordbreakers were out and about. Thats not my legacy memories. That was "omg I love Bungie they made that Sword from that moon mission available elsewhere!" It added something for me. I always ran for those events because its a blast to play with the sword. Now that is gone, and for what? So I can sit here and say "Yeah, you used to be able to use the sword elsewhere on the Earth and Moon, now you can't..." I don't feel special for having been there, I'm pissed you took a fun thing away. So thats the POV of a day one player. What about someone new? They buy these expansions and aren't entitled to the full experience? What? Why not? So if you didn't play here for the few months between HoW and Taken King, you miss the Wolves? But they'll still charge you for the expansion.
