You see it all the time. "Music today is absolute shit. I wish we could go back to times when music was actually decent."
The truth of the matter is, the "shit" you are referring to will eventually be forgotten, while the true artistry will be remembered for years to come. Frank Sinatra, Elvis, The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd, Guns n' Roses, Nirvana, they are now legends. People still listen to their songs, and will continue for god knows how long.
Remember LMFAO? I'm Sexy and I Know It? They basically fell off the face of the Earth. Their music will go down as nothing more than a fad, and be ignored entirely by future generations. This is what eventually happens to every artist that just panders to the lowest common denominator.
So, what modern artists will be remembered as legends? Imagine Dragons? Kanye West? Katy Perry? What do you guys think?

24 RespuestasEditado por Trivium Shogun: 7/29/2015 8:30:31 AMI cringe at all the people saying rap/dubstep I think that the main genres that will survive will be • Classical • Blues • Metal • Orchestral • Rock I think this because orchestral has already survived the test of time and it will continue to to thrive for years to come. There is no reason that it would stop anytime in the future, it will only get better as technology progresses. Rock will survive because well, it's rock. Rock at this point has so many different subgenre a to it that for each subgenre to fade away would take literally forever. Plus it is a really good genre of music and appeals to so many people. Classical will survive because just like orchestral and rock, classical had been going on for a long time, the longest in fact. Classical music is the basis for so many genres of music today that it won't stop because a lot of people who like other genres of music are likely to have some sort of interest in the classical music genre because it was the base for so many other genres. Blues will keep going simply for the fact that it is similar to classical music. Also, there are a lot of rock and metal fans out there who like blues as well because it was also one of those genres that help set up a lot of others. Last, but certainly not least, metal. Metal has been on a long ride the past half century. In the 70s and 80s metal was arguably the most popular genre in the world. With bands coming out like black sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, twisted sister and so many others, it created such a large hold in the music industry. Though sadly, amongst most of society back then it became condemned as parents and other people thought that metal wasn't a good influence on their children and was a violent form of music. Even though metal went through all of that, it is still thriving with 100s of millions of fans. Metal legends have already come and gone, and metal is one of those few genres left that are still making legends. Metal is a form of music that almost anybody can relate to. A lot of music that comes from metal relate to the composers personal experiences or beliefs which other people can relate to, or it can reach out to certain people to help them out (If you would like examples let me know). Then there are a lot of metal songs that people try to send a message through, or sometimes, maybe the composers just want to create a story and share it with anyone. Or they sometimes like to use real life stories or old stories in their music. It is truly a form of music that brings some of the most variety out of any genre. Metal also brings people together. Friendships, and other relationships are made through this genre of music. It brings thousands of people together at festivals where everybody shares a common interest. And if your into metal, it's likely that you will never separate from it if you truly understand it. Though the thing that I find upsetting is that metal is so large and is one of the biggest music genres out there. Though some people don't even know it exists. Stay metal \m/ (•_•) \m/

9 RespuestasOther than obviously Classical music, Hip hop. From everything I find, it's been the most influential music genre in history, at least in terms of youth. It's way more accessible than most other music genres, and the lyrical content is far more expressive and vast.

Editado por Marathon: 8/2/2015 2:35:33 AMDrake will possibly go off the radar. Taylor Swift has too much popularity to go down. She might go down as some kind of music legend in a few years. Katy Perry seems like a good candidate One Direction, like other boy bands, will fade away and break apart while one the of the members will make their own music.
