Nothing said or shown at e3 or after was any sort of promise of how the game would be. Just because they said it was playable did not mean you were going to be able to go there. they meant that it was full terrain and not a skybox as used by other games. So no the did not lie. Even Halo/Skyrim/CoD/BF/Gears has places like this where if you go outside of where they decided to let you go you will die. They did not ever have to let you go every square inch just because you wanted to ever.
