Believe me, you owe it too yourself to watch this. We are not the ones playing a game, they are.

So lots of people seem to think the reason why this is bothersome is because people just want to be haters. This is a video about manipulation and allowing people to not only understand the mechanics of destiny but also our brains. Whether you believe it or not people do get addictive behaviour when playing. When you play and keep trying for a certain weapon and keep playing even though your bored and agitated that is addictive behaviour whether you want to believe it or not.Destiny is fun with friends there is no doubt and the gameplay is fun. But to use the same techniques as they do with slot machines is kind of messed up. End of story.

Lol, it's hilarious how everyone is just catching onto this now. It's exactly what I've been saying since week one. Promptly followed by a "meh, what else am I going to play? Cod?" I personally enjoy it. Using an age old reward pattern isn't a personal insult against anyone, it's a time tested and proven way for people to enjoy themselves.

5 RespuestasNot impressed. More armchair psychology from another gaming hipster shitting on Destiny. Jesus -blam!-ing christ, Destiny is fun so -blam!-ing what? Why do people feel a need to make it out to be "Wait! Destiny isn't actually fun you're being tricked!" Seriously, this video describes the first couple of weeks of destiny. Sure, there is some addictive quality the first few weeks when you're getting new gear. But it doesn't explain why people keep playing. I have nothing to grind for and neither do many others. Why do I keep playing then? I guess this "journalist" isn't aware of the fact that all the RNG part of Destiny is essentially gone since House of Wolves. Everything has a specific way of being acquired. Hell, the three new exotic guns are guaranteed drops on PoE 35. All the other stuff is bought with armor and weapon cores which are also guaranteed drops. This "analysis" is very naive and shallow. I keep playing because the game is FUN. Here's a thought: maybe the addictive part of Destiny is the fact that it's a SOCIAL game. People keep playing because it's the best cooperative game out right now. Another thing he tries to squeeze in there is that Destiny is "full of DLC." TWO -blam!-ing DLCs all year and it was all content DLC. No character skins, no pay 2 win gun packs, no shortcut passes. The Taken King is the start of year 2 and is shaping up to be more like Destiny 2 than a DLC. I'd rather have that for $40 than the a yearly CoD or Assassin's Creed rehash for $60. In the end, this comes down to another butthurt hipster upset that Destiny isn't an 8 hour shooter with 3 hours of cutscenes that you play for a week and move on. Somehow it's a bad thing (or "unethical") that Destiny is a game that is worth playing long term and remains fun.

Shut up and take my money!

1 RespuestaWow a game to make money?!? No way!!!

8 RespuestasI guess I can't play and enjoy a game anymore without someone saying I'm a blind sheep

2 points: 1. A video like this is a good thing to watch, not to change anything, but to learn about ourselves and to be more aware of the realities of consumerism. 2. Everyone who says anything bad about destiny or its players is a total hypocrite. This is the destiny forum, and you're on it.

16 RespuestasEditado por Slapdash_ID: 7/5/2015 9:00:04 PMOMFG looks like someone just learned about the Skinner box and the risk/reward cycle. This is psychology 101 and has been going on since forever. Diablo? Skinner Box. WoW? Skinner Box. Every game ever with a tiered RNG based loot system? Skinner Box. It has to be done this way because, surprise, if it isn't you get bored with it. That's just how we are wired as a species. Even in games with no loot systems the basic element of the Skinner Box remains. If you just started off as an unkillable bad ass that mowed down every enemy it would be a boring game. There has to be a risk/reward element. If you have a problem with that then you may want to explore non-interactive entertainment options. EDIT: It is also worth mentioning that plenty of people enjoy Skinner Box style entertainment without becoming addicts. Addiction speaks to an underlying mental predisposition in the person rather than a sinister plan to addict people on the part of the game maker.

Editado por sasukeyr: 7/6/2015 4:15:53 PMWhy should I care of his opinion? A VIDEO GAME IS NOTHING LIKE GAMBLING ADDICTON! I knew a guy who was like that and it ruined his life. Oh and before you say I'm addicted, I haven't played in a week because I'm currently playing eso. Also Danny just does what is cool at the time. Which is hating on destiny right now.

12 RespuestasThe vast majority of Destiny players are autistic sheep. This video will fall on deaf ears.

18 RespuestasWhat i took away from the video: Bungie is extremely effective at making a pleasurable gaming experience.
-
I'm sorry but this is 2015. If you don't know Activisions ways by now you're a casual and should stop 'grinding' :)
-
I keep playing, for now...but my disdain for them grows continuously. Fallout 4 can't get here quickly enough.
-
4 RespuestasSo many people ITT are defending themselves just like smokers and alcoholics, "I can quit anytime, I just choose not to"
-
I think more people will give up playing because they are fed up with the grinding for weapons, that Bungie seems to think keeps people playing.
-
Wow... I never thaw it like this. Why do I waste so much time on this game..
-
1 RespuestaI don't think its the game in itself that i keep playing for but rather the experience and bonding i have (or have had) in the game with friends that allows me to enjoy and continue playing it
-
1 RespuestaThat video made me take a legit look at my destiny habits. I don't like being a pigeon....

Triangle on his shirt, illuminati confirmed.

Look its not suprising. I think it's within ethical bounds....for adults. I dont think its ok when it comes to children Overall, its sad that they focused on the physiological side of things rather than actual content and in game story.

4 RespuestasAddiction to a video game is not very comparable to a gambling addiction. Gambling addictions put you debt, leave you poor, and ruin your life. A game addiction can waste a fair amount of time, but (ignoring extreme cases of addictions) it doesn't completely screw you over. Me, I have an addictive personality, I've racked up thousands upon thousands of hours in video games, but these are things I have fun doing. Destiny is the same, it's addicting, yes, of course. Is there chance and RNG to it? Undeniably, yes. But here's the final thing, do you have fun, because that's just it. Getting good gear in destiny can be a chore to do, but in the end, it's harmless.

1 RespuestaWhomever is doing it I enjoy it, get lost and you're part of the cancer on these forums.
-
You know what? I have fun playing the game and that's that. Makes me happy to play with my friends. That said, no shit the game is designed to be addictive! Is that not obvious?
-
I fûcking hate that every time i try to Atleast say the game is completely lost... I get called a sheep or a desticle
