Whenever I look at posts saying to nerf a particular gun or class of gun usually the counter point is "there will always be an OP weapon get over it" and I personally think that's stupid to say.
Look at games like Team Fortress 2, Halo, CS:GO, or any of the Battlefield titles (except for bf hard-line). These games have balanced their weapon choices in such a way that there either is no clear choice of weapon to use above the others OR they made it so the more top-tier weapons are harder for the player to access also creating balance.
There should never be a gun that you could claim to be OP to begin with. It feels as if people in this community also think the word "Nerf" means to make a gun worse than everything else or unusable.
That should not be the case, nerfing should mean that the developers deemed a gun too powerful and are reducing its effectiveness to bring it to a Balanced level, where the gun is still a viable option but it would come down to a players skill to win a gunfight.
Bungie has clearly shown that they are terrible at doing this by underpowering entire weapon classes such as Auto rifles and Fusion rifles, rather than focussing on specific weapons (suros, vex, etc.) That outclassed everything at the time.
Because of these poor balancing choices, it might be that people are afraid that if someone were to shout say... "Nerf exotic hand canons" Bungie would nerf ALL hand canons, making them as stupidly bad as auto rifles.
Those same people usually appear in threads suggesting "Rather than nerf anything we should Buff the guns that were nerfed to oblivion".
While this would help, it only fixes half the problem though. Only Buffing guns to be equally powerful would cause the overall " time to kill" to lower making the game much faster similar to titles like Call of Duty, where it comes down to who shoots who first (and that's not fun). It also doesn't deal with guns that already kill too fast.
This is why when most FPS's have a weapon balance patch, there is both nerfs and buffs to a multitude of items. The developers are attempting to find a nice goldilocks zone for everything.
So please before you start saying "just use X too" or "git gud scrub" think about why that weapon is over/under used, or why you use the weapons that you do and determine if some kind of action should be be done with them rather than just pushing it off like there is no problem at all.
It certainly wouldn't be fun if everyone ran around in crucible with the same weapons all the time *COUGH* thorn/felwinters*COUGH*. The key to successful multiplayer is weapon variety, as you always want to be trying something new and be rewarded for it.
TL:DR
Nerfing isn't always a bad thing, and buffing guns can sometimes cause problems too. So learn when to do both.

Crazy thought, just approach players with these weapons differently to win the encounter. The fact is, you aren't always going to beat every person you come across In a match. Stop crying about thorn.

13 RespuestasProblem is none of the other FPS games have guns like the Exotics, so it's harder to balance. Literally the only problem we have right now is exotics. How do you balance without making Exotics worthless. That's the problem that needs solved.
-
2 RespuestasA balanced nerf for thorn would be to lower its rate of fire and cut off burn when thorn owner dies. That seems fair.
-
There are also variables in the guns themselves that need to be taken in to account, an example would be halo 4's multiplayer, the battle rifle had one bullet removed from a burst in order to deal the same damage output (example of a nerf), and the dmr's fire rate was increased by about 5% so it could deal damage in the same amount of time as other guns, everyone just expects damage to be reduced here, on the exception of some posts who have actually covered factors like these. It isn't as simple as people would think, which is why auto rifles were ruined, in my opinion, because it seems the nerf was rushed and not thought out entirely to make it balanced.

2 RespuestasOP, when the ttk RISES the time increases... you know, gets longer. Is the opposite of shorter. Just thought you might want to know. --- Personally I like games which inspire caution in players - having a short ttk can be part of that if combined with a longer respawn timer. I would definitely expect Destiny to slow down if people had to wait 30secs to spawn. It's definitely more complicated than just a need to increase this one stat.

1 RespuestaEditado por cq13: 7/1/2015 6:51:34 AMWell for what you want to happen they would have to revamp the whole entire system. They can only do so much in this destiny. Destiny 2 will be a whole nother story. 1. There's a few pulse rifles that can 2 tap just as fast as thorn 2. red death Regens health 3. Hawkmoon 2 taps more times then not, 4. TLW is nuts and can hit for 111s at blistering speed. They need to fix the ads glitch. 5. Shotguns have a more effective 1 shot range then fusion rifles. 6. Backstab procs when it shouldnt 7. Viking funeral + firebolt = less then 1 shot. 8. Ram helmet should atleast only give armor to void walkers, stopping the inevitable invincible sunsinger. I can't think of any other ones off the top of my head.

1 RespuestaBy "people" don't you mean bungie?
-
Thorn and vex only guns that have been op . Thorn can bring a kid who averages a .8 kdr to 1.5 kdr it's ridiculous
-
-blam!-ing this

1 RespuestaAgreed. Often these games make the better guns have only incremental advantages in certain circumstances, and the maps provide such a diversity of these that no weapon is best at all of them, or even most.
-
2 RespuestasBungie has said that they want each weapon type to have its own period of time where it is the best.

7 Respuestas*Deej looks at post Deej: "Oh no..." *Deej runs out of his house, gets in his car to get to the office. It breaks down. So he goes on foot. He crosses the deserts, climbs mountains, sail the deadly seas. He must get this information to Harold Ryan, the president of Bungie. Finally, Deej reaches his destination. He is exhausted. Deej is drenched in sweat and hardly able to breath. He could fall over dead any minute. Deej: "Mr. Ryan, jeditony98 is upset Ryan: "Who?" Deej: "jeditony98, sir..." Ryan: "My god...bring me the button." *Deej breaks open a glass box on the wall labeled "Use in case of emergency". He pulls out a button from the scattered remains and hands it to Ryan. Ryan pushes the button Confetti pops everywhere and a banner drops that reads "No One Cares." in bright bold letters. A faint "Yea" can be heard in the background. Ryan: "Money well spent." *Looks over to Deej* Ryan: "Now get back to work and remember to tell me every time someone complains. I just love using this button."

This game is not meant to be balanced like those other games mentioned not ever game ever made is meant to be balanced in how it players just because some players think it should be because of the games they played that were balanced a set way.
-
Nerf Necrochasm.

2 RespuestasBump :/

1 RespuestaThe r101c carbine from titanfall is still the most op gun in that game. Hated to use it. Same with thorn.

Battle rifle tho

5 RespuestasThe link escapes me at the moment, but Luke Smith basically came out and said they're doing it on purpose to create memories for the long time players. He said Launch/October was for Suros, and every gun will have its time in the sun. Personally I think it's bass ackwards. Focus should be on balanced Time-to-Kill across weapons and fun PvP gameplay. But that's clearly not what they want. Source is a Kotaku interview.

Editado por Lordsa Jar-Jar: 7/1/2015 7:05:18 AM
OR they made it so the more top-tier weapons are harder for the player to access also creating balance.
Kidd logic, rite there.

6 Respuestasokay fine that is a lot of words but answer me this how has it gone so far? They buffed pulse rifles are they used? stats say NO. They killed auto rifles you ever see them in any aspect of the game? NO they "BALANCED" them. They fixed fusion rifles. You use them in any aspect of the game now? NO they are as ruined as the AR's. That means their satisfying those who live in the crucible has done nothing but end the use of two classes of weapons in any area of the game and crown two exotic hand cannons as the one and only go to weapons in the pvp area. I say good enough. No more balance please before we have nothing left to use in the game at all. Either counter the weapons you so hate or go find a game with balance that suits you. This one is broken enough without any more adjustment thank you.

5 RespuestasI dont get why everyone has so much beef with auto rifles.. I do really well with them. I love auto rifles.

5 RespuestasMy big thing with the "nerf" is only nerf them in pvp not pve

3 RespuestasEditado por Swiftlock: 7/1/2015 4:31:02 AM
TL:DR Nerfing isn't always a bad thing, and buffing guns can sometimes cause problems too. So learn when to do both.
Suros was nerfed multiple times. Monte Carlo had its range nerfed. All auto rifles were harshly nerfed in general, including the low-impact models. Vex and Pocket Infinity were nerfed so hard that they had to be re-buffed. Hand Cannons recieved a minor range nerf which had no major effect on their overuse. The only nerfs that I can agree were needed were Shotguns in PvP and - to a lesser extent, fusion rifles (even that nerf has some problems). But for the most part, Bungie has done a poor job at at applying nerfs.
-
9 RespuestasI'm sure Bungie's next pathetic attempt at weapon balance isn't far around the corner. If it follows the trend, hand cannons will be nerfed across the board by reducing range, accuracy and damage while increasing recoil and will be relegated to the vault with Auto Rifles. Pulse rifles will be king!

1 RespuestaNeed No Land Bryond, fast TTK primary.
-
1 RespuestaThis game is entirely unbalanced. Shoulder charges that kill, grenades that kill from across the room, super powered abilities that can be used to win fights a person was about to lose, TTKs getting faster and faster with perks like small bore and final round. It's part of what Destiny is. I agree they could be doing more to try and balance things out, but I think this game will always be a little unbalanced due to its core nature.
