What is up with the folks playing trials??
I have been mostly a pve Destiny player up until house of wolves launched. I have helped run countless numbers of folks through the raids, as a relic holder and sword bearer, always willing to help the community. Why are the trials of Osiris different. Where are the kind-hearted people that are willing to help those in need?? I am not the best at pvp but I enjoy the heck out of it, and I am rapidly improving. Why is it that everyone requires an MLG type player in order to get into groups? How are the lesser players supposed to improve if there is no room for them?
I used to love running people with less skill than I, through the raids, teaching them along the way. It's a game folks, let's not forget that. It's supposed to be fun. People are going to die. Sometimes you are going to lose. Why be an a-hole about it? Does that really help you or the community grow? I get that the lighthouse is special and reserved for the very best, but that does not have to serve as a right of entitlement.
I am looking for people, who game on xbox one, that are willing to be part of a team that is dedicated to improving together and working together to get better. If you fit the bill, post here and add me. Let's grow together as a community. Also, if you ever need a relic holder, swordbearer, or a SKOLAS run, hit me up and i would be more than happy to help!!

EDIT 2: just went 8-0 and then choked hard in the last match. Ended the night right around 1.0kd. Had a great group of guys tonight, we just got a little nervous in the end and wasted supers. We had much better gun skill than they did, but such is the way of the trials!! Try again tomorrow
EDIT 3: Again thank you to everyone who is contributing to this thread, it has been a very constructive conversation. I wanted to clarify a couple things though. I am certainly not looking for a carry, I am looking for people who want to grow and/or share their knowledge of how they have grown as a pvp player. I think we all understand the difference between pvp and pve, and why the two are vastly different. The good players can still provide mentorship to the lesser players, even if patterns, maps, and routines change. I myself have not yet been worthy of lighthouse gifts, and I am ok with that, but I am constantly striving to get better and look for advice from those who are better than me. If playing with them helps, then all the better. I am not expecting every good player to be willing to carry bad ones through, that's not at all what I am saying. I am just trying to get the more of the better players to be patient with the lesser players and teach them, realizing everyone has a different learning curve and pace. The better everyone gets, the better the community gets, and the better the competition gets. Growth is always healthy when speaking in terms of games like this. Keep up the great discussion guys and gals!!
EDIT 4: THE LIGHTHOUSE HAS BEEN REACHED!!! The struggle was real, the practice sessions were long, the journey was worth it, and the rewards were excellent!!! I am happy to have joined the group and will be happy to play with others that need help as well. The lighthouse is probably the neatest place I've seen in destiny and I want others to experience it as well!! LETS DO THIS!!!

This is great and what I have been asking for. Too bad I play on a different console to you because I know I would jump at the opportunity to come along for the learning journey. I see and hear about all of these different moves people use and lose to in trials. Like how a guy wiped a team with a single grenade or when a rez was timed perfectly. I want to learn these things, and as I learn I know I will come up with a few tricks of my own that work toward catching the enmy unaware. I try and tell my friends that if they want to get better, just grinding regular crucible and even Iron Banner won't cut it. The gamestyle is too different. Even playing Salvage or Skirmish are too different and way too forgiving to practice with. A gamestyle that forces you to play smart or die without the hope of a respawn is the only way to get good at that gamestyle. None of my friends are patient enough to play trials to lose and learn for longer than 2 or 3 matches.

I'll help my clan mates in PvE but not PvP. I'll be rocking a 3.5 kdr in one game and then my clan mate has a .25 kdr. It ruins the experience, might as well go in by yourself

Trials is different. You can be pretty damn good in pvp but your team can drag you down pretty bad.

Because unlike raids or stuff like that you go up against other players, some people while good enough to hold their own are not good enough to carry people through trials. At the end of the day it is alot harder to carry someone through a pvp game mode than a pve one.

2 RespuestasThe problem is that pvp is much more challenging than pve could ever be because enemy AI can't match fighting another human. I'm ok at crucible. I have a positive kd and usually get at least 2000 points per game or more. The thing is, I'm not good enough to carry someone worse than me. I can only fight for myself and require my teammates to do the same in ToO. You have to be really good at pvp to be able to carry someone bad through a flawless ToO run.

17 RespuestasI have carried so many people to flawless it has hurt my KD, when U look for a team people always judge u by it But it means nothing, I would smash anyone with a 2-3kd and if u want proof please go on my profile and press clash, recent games. Take a look I average over 27kills a game with 3kd and I get turned down by people with a 1.5kd because they look at my overall stat and don't see the full picture Anyway let me say while I'm here haha, add me if your kd is below 1.5 and want to be carried to flawless (I cannot guarantee flawless but I have carried 15 out of 25teams to the lighthouse) but if not, at least u get all packages.

1 RespuestaThe true reason is because good pvp players hate losing and don't want to carry two other people all the way to lighthouse, when they can get someone with pvp skills and can play for fun without getting frustrated

7 RespuestasI'm not trying to sound like an ass but it's the nature of the people who play the game type. Pvp is for the elitist who are ultra competitive. The fact that you can prove your skill against others. Even if it means using thorn or final round leads people to care about prestige and don't want others to bring them down. Pve on the other hand has a more relaxed feel to me. Honestly after 11 all I play is pve because my reflex are dulled and I don't have the twitch and instinct I have earlier in the day. For the people that don't want a challenge pve is the answer for the rest it's pvp. I know it sucks that people are dicks about it and I personally have made it to the lighthouse every week. But if you lack that competitive nature/skill in pvp there isn't any real remedy except to play more of it and learn what is right/and what is wrong. In pve it is possible to carry someone. But PVP is a whole different animal unless if you are in that super elite god class

1 RespuestaThere are cool players out there though I see you've already found this out too! I went flawless for the first time last week by finding a group on the forums. Just have to find the right kind of people. One guy was very cool and laid back and since myself and the third guy had NAT issues he was the bridge between us. No pressure about losing or rage if one of us died. Just positive reinforcement and clear communication and smart tactics got us there. We went 8-0 and then choked on the last match so we got a new passage and went back in and got our 9-0! And man did the last team make us fight for it! 5-4 in the end and we barely pulled through and it was awesome! So cool that 3 strangers can work together so well. I've had some horrible experiences joining raging asshole, blame everyone else players for trials and it put me off for a few weeks, but there are some awesome people out there! Most every post I see is "must have so and so k/d" or "must have gone flawless at least once already" or "must have so and so weapons/gear". I will never join one of those groups. Hope you see the lighthouse on your next run sir. Respect guardian.

Lots of people carry and even more get carried through trials. Trust me all the people with a trials lighthouse emblem , well it doesn't necessarily mean they're "mlg quality" . I've personally never been to the lighthouse, and prolly won't make it till its old news and only scrubs are doing it , my best record so far was 9-1 . we lost on round 4 to some try hards lagging two trials ago Still had fun and got a bunch of etheric light from the packages so I'm happy

Unlike raids trials is unforgiving when it comes to losing, makes sense that people would want good pvp players over carrying not so good players.

I'm actually good at pve but better at pvp I really enjoy it and I'm very good at it I still haven't gone flawless because I don't have that damn emblem like seriously at least play a game of skirmish to see how I do or test me don't just judge like "ohh no emblem no gear he's only 33 and a half kick him he's bad"
