Chapter 1 - Earth Day Normally Shadow arrives with a big band playing, people cheering, and all that jazz. But today she wasn't visiting one of her many provinces. Rather, she fell out of the sky into a pile of cardboard boxes. Granted, those boxes might have deserved such punishment, but now she's holding a knife to my throat and I'm going to go away now. Shadow picked herself up out of the pile of flattened boxes and took a big whiff of air. Immediately she gagged and regretted that action. "Yup, good 'ol London. Still stinks like it's the medieval times." Her rather astute assumption continued as she analyzed the air. "Hmm. Mostly air pollution, general human stink, and.... odd. Why is... oh." Further observations were postponed as a deep growl came from the shadows of the alley she landed in. "Hey girly, shuddit. I'm trying to get some sleep." Shadow went from confused to bemused, and then to plain amusement as she saw a man lying against the wall a few feet down, hidden in the shadows. "Sure bub. Just tell me what year it is and I'll be off." The man grunted, irritation showing as he answered the woman's stupid question. "The year is nineteen ninety five, ya daft bint. Now sod off so I can get some sleep." Shadow took this information, processed it, then grinned. <Excellent!! I believe I have happened to arrive at the perfect time. The general position of the Earth at this time, as well as the temperature indicate it is summer. Still cold here, stupid England.> Her inner monologue ran as she walked out into the busy streets of London, her skin-tight armor melting away into a businesswoman's outfit. ~| Jump in the Line |~ "Now where is it... It's like I know where the general area is, but the damn place just isn't there!" Our intrepid Drow was perplexed out of her mind. Her memories from when she had read the Harry Potter series so long ago were failing her at the worst time. She was staring down a row of shops in downtown London. "I'm pretty sure the place would be here." Her source of befuddlement lied somewhere in the general area, she was sure. Just as she began to turn away to look somewhere else she watched a couple in fairly outdated clothes walk out of nowhere, as if from thin air. They appeared in the space in front of between a coffee shop and a book store. Shadow nearly slapped herself as she realized her mistake. <Of course I can't see it!! You need a magical core to get past the enchantments. Stupid wizards.> She chuckled to herself as she walked over to one of the tables that sat outside of the coffee shop. After taking a seat, she closed her eyes. Now, a magical core was something that each witch and wizard was born with. While other magic users channel the surrounding energies to fuel their work, witches and wizards use the energy of their magical core to power their spells. However, Shadow had no such core. Her body, while having its own kind of power, did not hold the core of magic held by the wand-waving humans. But she could make something similar enough to fool the human magic. She breathed, then relaxed as she expanded her magical senses. She was immediately assaulted by the sheer amount of ambient magic in the area. Hunger, deep and primal rushed to the fore of her mind at the presence of so much energy. She forced herself to focus, to ignore the hunger. Now was not the time. She spread mental arms outside herself like a net, ensnaring the magic about her and drawing it in. She gathered it into a small ball, feeding it slowly. As the ambient magic began to lower, she felt the ball of magic like a physical presence settle under her left heart. Quad pulses matched the beat of her hearts as she grinned. She had human magic. ~| Rock your body in Time |~ With the magic problem solved, Shadow noted that a dingy, beat-up pub had appeared between the coffee and book shop. Thanks to the human magic now within her, she could enter into the Wizarding World. Standing up, she straightened her skirt before heading towards the entrance. As the anti-mundane wards passed over her, she grinned. Magic was cool. Opening the door, her eyes instantly adjusted to the darkened interior of the Leaky Cauldron. As a few heads swiveled to take in the new entry, she quirked an eyebrow as most took in her "muggle" outfit and dismissed her as a first-gen. Finding her entry unhindered, she continued in, waving to the bartender, whose name she overheard from an obviously drunken man slumped at the bar. "Mind letting me into the alley, Tom? I usually apparate in, but I've been followed for the last hour." Tom, the hunchbacked bartender, stared at the unfamiliar woman before shrugging, it wasn't his business to know every person in the wizarding world's name. At worst she was a foreigner that didn't know how to get in from the muggle side. "Of course, miss. Just follow me." As Tom left from behind the bar to head to the back, Shadow scanned the rest of the pub. Many of the patrons were more interested in their own discussions, but a man seated in the back caught her eye. He was dressed rather raggedly, but had an air of one learned. Scars covered his face, as if he had got into far too many fights with a beast of sorts. He met her eyes and she winked as his amber-eyed gaze met her deep-blue smirk. Dismissing the man for now, she followed Tom as he opened a door and went into what looked like a medium-sized cupboard. She entered as well, as Tom raised his wand. As he tapped each brick, she noted that each glowed to her eyes, filled with activated magic. When he tapped the final brick, the entire wall filled with magic and began to recede. While the sight of a wall of magic was fascinating, what followed was nothing short of incredible. Buildings were lined up, looking squashed and defying seemingly defying the laws of nature by standing at odd angles. Magic filled the air. Robed humans wandered about the alley; looking, entering, and leaving stores and businesses. But their petty lives were ignored by Shadow as she stared at the magic that held it all together. She could taste it, here. Magic that attempted to suppress magical travel, magic that warded off the attention of non-magicals, and through it all, magic that warped and expanded space itself. Though it was several meters across to the magicals, to the mundanes the entire area was the size of a small alleyway. Shadow finally shook herself out of her analysis, focusing on Tom as he gave her a farewell. "Thank you Tom." "Of course, miss. Enjoy your day." As she turned away Shadow focused on a large building at the end of the alley. It was tall and appeared to be made of granite. It was slightly weathered, but leaned oddly, as if it was sagging slightly. Shadow focused on the magic, to see what was holding it up. She blinked in surprise when the magic was a different color than the rest of the magics of the alleyway. <Odd. Must be the goblins' magic. Wonder what it would taste like...>

Disclaimer: I only own Shadow and the Genellians. The rest all belong to their respective authors and creators. Except the Dojo. I own, like... a 16th of that. :) <Otherwise I'd be gathering my own harem. But such is life.> ~| Break Line, hmm? |~ Author's Note: Now, I know I'm dropping you all off the cliff with no backstory to Shadow; but that's intended. Of course you won't get a huge backstory or a whole book on her life(still writing that one), but I will try to filter enough through so that you guys can figure out at least a little bit of why and how she acts. But please, do sit back and enjoy. ~| To Blave, which means(of course), to Bluff! |~ Prologue- Bucket List Shadow was bored. And that's never a good thing. The petite don't-call-me-short Drow Goddess was sitting on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the vast plains of the planet Genellian. Her hair was blowing in the wind, leaving dark trail behind her. She watched the ForgeWorld that dominated a large portion of the sky slowly turn far above her head, and sighed. It wasn't really her fault, after all. The All-Mighty Plot calls for the frequent invasion and odd destruction of the Dojo. However, since the Dojo was still being rebuilt, she had far too much time on her hands. Her mind lazily went through her list of things she has always wanted to do, and surprisingly she found one that stood out. It was right between: -Calling Alduin out on his frequent, and rather annoying, shouting- and -Have an all-out brawl with the entire Spartan Program- Of course, she wasn't too stingy on when she got around to any of the other options, but she liked the simplicity of this one. -Become the Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher at Hogwarts- Now only to get around those pesky copyright laws.... ______ AN- Haha!!! Welcome to my mad world!! Alright, you now have about 1% of Shadow revealed. Let's list it for those who were not able to pick it up, eh? 1- Shadow is not human. 2- She is apparently some sort of Deity 3- She appears to ignore the 4th wall slightly That's it for now, look forwards for Chapter One!!
