I have been playing destiny for a few months now, but before destiny I played call of duty. I have never seen weapons in pvp so op as destiny shotguns. I don't want to make any of you guys mad, but I think they're unfair. Countless times I'll turn a corner and get instantly killed by a shot gunner.
Please tell me what you guys think, I want to see another side to the argument.

No. Fusion rifles are. They still oneshot from range where they shouldn't.
-
no its cheap and nooby
-
shotguns are meant to be deadly on med to close range. So to me shotguns are good even after the patch

Editado por Gekko135: 3/3/2015 2:08:24 AMYeah, shotguns are nasty. But if you play accordingly, you can counter them with distance and patience. But if someone gets too close, having a Felwinter doesn't hurt!

1 RespuestaFight fire with fire if you must, but the best kid in the lobby will be doming you down a hallway with praedyths revenge over and over
-
Why wouldn't a shotgun kill you point blank... I was using a monte carlo today. When I saw a shotgun, I turned and ran. Then I shot at them outside their damage radius
-
I think that if you find a weapon to be OP you should keep quiet and use it. The funny thing is that using it may change your perspective. Sadly Destiny is following in CoD's footsteps and ruining PvP (MP) with uncalled for nerfs.

This game hands you a shotgun for close quarters, all people do is close the gap to get in effective range. It's the same as Gears of War. Use your primary for the gunfights at distances, then when it comes down to it pull out that shotgun, close the gap, and put a hole in his chest. But also this games maps are based around CQC, so shotguns are common and it can get annoying sometimes. But in my opinion it's not as bad someone taking six shots with a sniper and hoping they hit two for a kill.

Part of the problem with getting killed by a shotgun when going around a corner is the fact that everyone has radar that will always show at least their general direction in relation to you. While it isn't precise, some know how to read it accurately enough to anticipate people coming around a corner. Conversely, if you crouch, while it won't take you completely off the radar like in Halo, it will make the indicator flash every so often, and if someone isn't paying much attention, they may miss the flash entirely. Another part of it is the maps. Most are made up of relatively open areas essentially welded together with lots of close quarters. In those cases, shotguns are working essentially as intended: As a close-quarter's weapon with one-shot-kill potential at the right range. Granted, some people use shotguns exclusively, but the only solution there is to pretty much remove shotguns entirely because you simply can't "patch" people. As for me, I'll use my shotgun when appropriate, and I suggest that if a shotgun is up your alley? Go ahead and use one. Personally, I don't mind getting killed by a shotgun, because when that happens, it's in a range that makes sense to me. I've never really understood the shotgun hate, but to each their own.

Why haven't they added a sword? Needing primary ammo isn't even a thing.
-
You either use an OP shotty, an OP fusion, or an OP sniper. See the pattern? If you're not using one of those, you're using an OP auto rifle, an OP handcannon, an OP pulse rifle, or an OP Scout rifle. It's ok unless it's killing me. Then it's OP!!
-
Its what I say every time. When you see me running across a map with a shotgun and you cannot kill me with your auto rifles, scout rifles etc. And I -blam!-ing kill you, I deserve the kill

Agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, everybody uses them and most maps are too close quarters for anything else to be as efficient.
-
If you use a shotgun in the cruc then do us all a favor and kill yourself with it like Kurt cobain

U do know there are many counters for this right? Lol Blink travels in 1 fixed direction & distance Map & radar awareness help u avoid too many close encounters Hipfire! It really does help a ton Be mobile, shotguns prey on non mobile players or those who run straight INTO its barrel If u think its range is high, you're the problem as it really isn't. Its not difficult to get out of range or its reticle to avoid full damage, stationary targets will always receive full damage. Strafe, jump, or run to have the shotgun reticle off your character. Shotguns have a limited use in range & area, u can avoid full damage or optimal range easily in such a mobile game

I don't mind people using shotguns as long as they don't use it as their main weapon. Last week i came across people who really used shotguns (Invective) as their main and it was horrible. I had no choice but to use the infamous Thorn against them and man it felt great.
Btw they were full fireteam using invectives
Editado por rreeferpaste: 3/3/2015 12:49:26 AMAs I always say, you try getting shot from 5 feet away with a shotgun and not die
-
you have a shotgun also
-
1 RespuestaThere needs to be a game mode where you can't use shotguns. It takes no skill whatsoever to slide or blink and shotty someone from 10 feet away in one shot.
-
2 RespuestasI've received over 20 death threats and hate mail from the start of he game for using a shotgun. I don't even care anymore.
-
Idc if you shotgun as long as you don't use it the whole match.
-
3 RespuestasThey have awful range and recoil to make up for it. You really have to have a set build and play style to use them effectively.
