I'm kind of meh on it. I'm putting it on the same teir as JJK, it hits story beats well, animated well, and cool characters.
But it isn't really making any super massive leaps and bounds for anime.
The manga readers overhyped it a lot.

I wouldn't say it's overhyped. Just that manga readers have read 97 chapters of plot. JJK's anime was probably an arc behind the manga at the time. (I liked that last fight scene the most. Beautiful.) Chainsaw Man season 1, however, will probably only cover a third of 97 chapters. This would be the first big arc out of about three to four arcs in Part 1 of the manga. These chapters are dense and in a good way. Everything happens for the plot in some shape or form, and I don't remember any unnecessary or filler chapters. There's a lot of things that happen. It just requires time to properly convey these events and characters through a film lens. The reaction is understandable. And the weekly releases probably won't help the semi-slow burn. Personally, I'm excited for the next few episodes, and I hope your opinion on the show eventually improves.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike it. I've learned to temper my expectations when it comes to stuff like this too. It's good, but it isn't anything mind blowing, so far it is just a slight notch below JJK, and I enjoyed that. As the plot progresses, I'll probably like it more. I don't plan on dropping it.

I’m curious where it goes. It might make some ground. Otherwise it’s gonna be another body on the pile that JJBA tops
