Crucible matchmaking. Was the culprit. Is the culprit. Will be the culprit. Don't blame people but blame the developer forcing 90% of community to lose to a 10% minority. Constantly. In every mode. Rift is just another example. AFK players have just given up knowing they will lose anyway. That way at least it's over quick.

lol you care about the AFK and not all the exploiting, cheating going on. RIFT is already so exploited --I've seen all kinds of weird things. Can't see spark runner. A guy bouncing up and down while getting rift. All the one shots. A rift in middle but a guy scored on us. I did AFK when I saw that! What do you care --you still get your pinn. Crucible is so broke, but hey, punish us. If you're on my team --I'll double AFK lol Want to add: when RIFT turns to CLASH lol. This has happened twice. This time the other team just emoted. I wiped out three while they sat in their chairs....good sports they were😆😆

Same for match bailers after falling one dunk down, they need harsher punishments, first offence should be 30 mins, second a 2 hour crucible lockout and 3rd and subsequent offences, 24 hours.

kicks are important too, but in order to prevent this from happening there should be a penalty for leaving the game. No more, no less.

I noticed this today actually. One guy was on our spawn the whole match. Never even got kicked.

Just had a match where a team mate was afk.... between that, the bugs, terrible matchmaking, the other team farming kills when we spawn in and we're down 4-0. It's the worst experience I've ever played. *** the very next match had another team mate afk.... I've lost so many games in a row I might be done with this game.

I could be mistaken but I believe afk players do get booted after 30 seconds. I saw this happen in a match with an afk teammate. Also bungie did say that afk players would gain 0 progress on bounties and challenges. Unfortunately I get a feeling this could be beaten with a rubber band on the thumb sticks. Which I've seen and they didn't get booted.

I play with users who just emote. I’ve taught myself not to allow that stuff to bother me anymore. If rift was up to 3 I wouldn’t mind it cuz the match would be over with 5 mins. Rift is so much better than control, and this is coming from somebody who hates on d2 pvp more than anyone.

Then you'll have people walking in circles instead. The solution is to remove Rift.

I just run around bcos we don’t need any guns. I just pick a quiet spot and run laps until the game is over. Try get the games over as quick as possible to get my loot then go. Terrible terrible game mode

People are AFK for multiple reasons Two are Always AFK, no matter the PvP mode, just looking for rank progress/pinnacle gear completion & The absolute pointless mode of rift where only the Spark carrier gains points! (2 for a pick up, 5 for a dunk) You don’t earn points for protecting the spark carrier (and there’s IB seal triumphs for carrying the spark) I’ve seen players purposely let the spark carrier get killed so they can grab the spark (way too long to interact with) and grab the points themselves Stupid mechanics in a supposed team game It’s turned into a “if I don’t grab the spark, you can’t have it either” mentality

Pinnacles on completion in any activity that 90% hate will get you AFK players.

You missed the mark on this big time buddy. Instead of kicking people who are afk, they should focus on actually fixing the game mode and making it worth while to actually play. Played with a friend the other day, and we got matched against a six stack who scored two points on our team, so literally everyone hanged back cause there was no point in trying and getting steam rolled. The blueberries we matched with all hung back too because of the six stack. You can't do anything when matchmaking is a joke, and there is no reason to push back. In other instances, getting kicked for being afk could also hurt people who get stuck in that transmat glitch. It'd suck to spend all that time in the rest of the match just to get kicked at the last second. for another case, some people could just be throwing to get the match over with quickly as soon as it start, just to get the pinn. Or cause they are tired of the forced team play and long respawn timers. I've played too many matches where people gave up after not getting revived when they could have. Trust me, I've seen quite a number of people just get frustrated at that, myself included at times. Mostly cause if you need to push, it's best to have another person getting your back, and shooting at the enemy team. The biggest reason I see afk people, is due to the respawns themselves. If the enemy team is pushed up into your rift and haven't dunked yet cause of one guy holding the line, you get spawned waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far from your rift to defend it. It provides no actual defense options when it's probably one guy running at your rift, but because your respawn has put you in some far away place, it's impossible. Edit: I wanna point this out, as it's been happening way too often in my games. Hostage situations. either team can do this, no matter what side you're on. Your team can start a hostage situation by gaining a single point, and holding onto the rift the rest of the time. You want the game to end as fast as possible, but you can't because your team has inflated egos and care about getting high kill counts on their guns to "prove" that it's the best weapons. enemy team can do the exact same. So as another reason why people afk, is because of these hostage situations bungie has allowed in pvp.

I'm not saying people should AFK, but at the same time, when matchmaking is this god-damned awful I actually cannot fault people for it. They get basically the same amount of kills and contribution added to their team, but without any of the frustration of being pitted against top 10% players that curbstomp them and their team. This is Bungies mess. They have a matchmaking that is so poorly performing that people would rather AFK, than play the game.

Iron banner sucks right now, so players afk rather than play it. What can we do to change that? A. Make it more desirable to play so people don't afk. B. Keep the -blam!- show and create stricter anti afk measures. A's the answer, not B. Fix the -blam!- show, not the dudes afking because the thing is so shitty.
