I think I know the joke that Bungie got their name from:
The Bungie joke:
Ok there were three men in a jungle when they came across a group of natives. They were told they were given the choice of being killed or participating in the Bungie ritual (which I cannot explain due to the vulgarity of the ritual.) Two men choose the ritual. The natives chant Bungie, Bungie, Bungie and perform the ritual on the men.The third says "no way am I doing that! I'll take death" To which the chief native yells "Death by Bungie!"
It's a lot funnier if you know what the ritual of Bungie is...
Anyway, I'm dead serious - this is a joke I heard in the late 80's early 90's and the name for the "ritual" was Bungie. It has to be the vulgar joke they claim to have gotten their name from...

ive heard that joke a bunch of times as well, and its at least as old as when i started to go to highschool, so its gotta be more than 15-20 years old.
