fastest way to get a good hand cannon???
So I want a decent hand cannon badly. What's the fastest way to get a pretty good one???
A. Buy from a vendor from one of the factions?
B. Hope for one from the nightfall (I have 2 characters so 2 chances)
C. Do the raid on hard (VOG)
D. Another way?

Cruciabl HC is damn good for a Vendor weapon....TFWPKY 1969 I have used the Devil You Know as my go to primary since I was lucky enough to have it drop, TFWPKY 1969 is about as close as you can get. I absolutely love it, and can't wait to max it out.

1 ReplyHow good do you need? Hand cannons hit so hard you can get away with low-level variants for many activities. I have a blue Regulator 56 that I keep for its excellent perks and impact. Yesterday I picked up a green Mos Ganon from a chest and ran with it for a while (before trashing it) since it was so much fun to use. I'd love a TFWPKY with a good stat roll, but I'll take whatever comes.

The Devil You Don't is... Ok. I got decent perks on mine and I use it with Plan C to make up for the 5 rounds. I can't remember the vendor perks. The last word will always be Xur bait. If you get a chance to work for Thorn, totally worth it. When I quit Destiny, it will be with Thorn in my hand. Don't remember the crucible HC and stats but I am sure that one would work too. I have had Thorn so long, I haven't shopped HC's in awhile.

Do VOG to get fatebringer( it's only available as a Templar reward ) it is the best HC as of now.

The best hand cannon I can recommend would be the future war cults from the vendor. Otherwise VOG and nightfall for the chances to get something.

The chance from FWC is probably the only half decent hand cannon from the vendor at the moment. The rest are complete rubbish. As for best place. This game is entirely RNG. With such a flawed loot system it is impossible to say there is a best place to get a good hand cannon. Fatebringer is definitely one of the best hand cannons in the game and drops from Templar on hard mode. Again you are at the mercy of RNG. Your best bet is to just keep playing the game and eventually you will get lucky.

Iron banner wasn't bad for me. Spent probably 16-18 total hours and got a timurs lash exactly the way I want it

7 RepliesI'd try A, B and C all at once. That way you will maximise your chances of a strong drop, but if RNG isn't on your side you can buy one from the vendor when you get enough marks. General concensus seems to be that 'TFWPKY 1969' from the Crucible vendor is the best faction HC at the moment. Just avoid 'Devil You Don't' as it is a bit crap! Also, don't forget that there is an exotic bounty to aquire Thorn and that Xur may sell Last Word at some point. I've got both and love 'em.

The crucible hand cannon is decent, some good perks and pretty good for aground use. I got the new monarchy hand cannon for levelling up with them a while back and that thing is a little monster. But, it can only come from random drops. There are some decent uncommon hand cannons that drop on the roc strikes like a few people have mentioned and they are good to use until you get a better drop. Also keep doing your bounties and hopefully you may get the thorn bounty. That thing is a true beast. It is a shame the vanguard no longer sell the the devil you know as it is so good. Crowd control and send it gives it such power in nailed mobs to the wall. Basically, keep grinding. Something will drop.

Well the best way was timurs lash and you can pick your perks if you've got the motes for it. But ib is over now...

Do Roc strikes Obtain Polite Denail (it's blue so it's easy to miss) It's a BEAST. It's impact is as high as Timur's lash and without being upgraded it does more damage than TDYD and similar exotic/legendaries.

The vendor HGs aren't much good, Fatebringer and Hawkmoon are the best there are. Seen that you are on Xbox so thats Hawkmoon out the window.... also know players that have finished Hard Vog numerous times and never recieved Fatebringer. (I got it on my 2nd attempt) like others have mentioned Timurs Lash with the right rolls is a great gun too. I think your best bet is to just keep hitting the bounties and hope for Thorn (a light in the dark i think its called)
