I'm used to paying attention to Attack Power / but in Destiny it's not as clear as to what weapon in a class does more damage - ones with higher attack or ones with higher stats and lower attack.
Specifically with rocket launchers - how important is Velocity? What do you look for in a rocket launcher?

1 ReplyI say for those who teleports like vex or sepiks prime, yes, velocity is important. But if your Tryna kill swordbearers and they jump behind rocks, I'd say the slower velocity the better. They curve and track better with slower movement. Depends on the situation I guess.
-
If you use the Dragon's Breath, you'll understand the need for velocity...
-
Tracking + Slow velocity = A slow and painful death in the Crucible
-
hell yea. but blast radius comes first
-
2 RepliesBlast Radius is King, but second is Velocity. You want your rocket to hit the target as fast as possible otherwise they can duck or hide and avoid damage.
-
Velocity is more important in PvP than PvP. Blast radius is more important in PvE than PvP. PvP: rockets with high velocity, semi high blast radius and proximity rockets PvE: rockets with high blast radius, decent velocity, high attack rating, tracking, cluster bombs, and anything else that falls under the category of dealing damage over a huge area.

4 RepliesEdited by Machetegun: 2/7/2015 7:45:27 PMThings you want on a PvE launcher listed in terms of importance: 1)High Velocity 2)Blast Radius 3)Tracking 4)More than 1 round in a clip 5)Mini MIRV Rounds 6)*Bonus* Fast reload speed
That's why the Hunger of Crota is the best pve legendary launcher
-
Yes that's the speed of the rocket
-
1 ReplyThe only time I take velocity into account is if there is no tracking. The rockets gets there faster with high velocity. So if there isn't tracking, you the best chances it will hit the target before they love away right? So high velocity is nice. With tracking, it's kind of a non issue. Just my opinion.
-
High velocity and good blast radius is a good choice, but, I was lucky with my drops and have a 98 blast radius launcher, so, I don't mind my velocity much (It's about 70-80, but, 98 -blam!-ing blast radius man)
-
For crucible I pay attention to blast radius. Pve velocity and tracking are keys
-
Lol yeah it helps to get the rocket from point A to point B as fast as possible so people cant just walk past it.

9 RepliesEdited by Lucius Aelius: 2/7/2015 9:12:42 AMWow, necro lol. Anyway I would say Velocity is definitely important but so is Blast Radius, and the best Rocket Launchers have a high stat in both. Also in PvP a good Rocket Launcher with Proximity Detonation is the best possible heavy weapon choice IMO, Machine Guns are only good when used against other people with Machine Guns or who don't have heavy ammo, Machine Gun vs. Rocket Launcher = free ammo for the guy with the Rocket Launcher.

if there is no tracking make sure it has decent velocity, i had a rocket that had a velocity barely halfway and my grenades will get to the target before my rockets do.
-
3 RepliesBlast radius is most important.
-
It's important if you don't have tracking. If you do, it doesn't really matter.
-
Bosses, velocity Groups, blast radius
-
2 RepliesI look for tracking, the only one I have is truth which I never use, I need gally or HOC
-
2 RepliesYou want to find the right balance with velocity. If the projectile is moving too fast, then it will be harder for it to track a moving target.
-
1 ReplyI used the rocket launcher before but switched to heavy machine gun. I'm never looking back...
-
Velocity is the speed that the projectile from the launcher travels.
-
Edited by matbioch: 2/7/2015 8:28:56 AMVelocity is most important. It is a stat that literally decreases time-to-kill, which is essential in PVP.
-
5 RepliesEdited by Renefrere: 2/7/2015 8:26:48 AMVelocity, Blast radius and either tracking or a proximity detonation perk. To be honest the only one that isn't important is stability. However if you have the Truth rocket launcher, then stability will help get damage quickly as it is near impossible to miss so you don't need to take time with your shots as much as normal.
-
Each stat is important. Sometimes it's a difficult choice. Velocity is how fast your rocket travels so I prefer rocket launchers with better velocity because I'm accurate about hitting right at my target. If given a choice between two rocket launchers with equal everything except velocity and blast radius I would take higher velocity and lower blast radius.
-
Velocity is very important for longer shots. If you only use it for medium-close range then it doesn't matter much. Use it for medium-long range though and it's the only thing you need. It's how fast your rockets travel, so do with that what you will.

13 RepliesHow fast the rocket travels, high velocity means opponents have less time to dodge. I usually upgrade it on the skill tree if possible.
