Has it been confirmed that they are the same? The female looks thinner of course but do they give that tiny advantage in competitive play or is it just looks?

A lot of chatter that I saw early in the Beta was that in fact the female characters had smaller hit boxes and a lot of people were picking them on purpose for PVP. The Hunters in particular were very hard to hit sometimes. I don't think this topic has really been re-visited since the Beta ended.

sloppy hit boxes are sloppy hit boxes, no matter what model is used

It's a tiny advantage but more a psychological one. If you see a tinier target the less likely you are to hit it even though the hitbox might be the same, you have lesser area to aim at. Again, this is probably not a big deal, but in precision FPS and competitive play it does make a slight difference.

This question, and others like it, is why I want private matches. These things can be hard to test without them.

1 Replyinb4/"Dur hur females are the most OP gender. They take no skill to use."

I'd like to someone like Datto do an in depth look into it when the game comes out, we probably really won't know for certain until then. There is also a probability that if they can they might have adjusted it between the Beta and the official release on the 9th.

they would have to be the same or -blam!- me everyone will be running females... lol

If you've played Halo, you'd notice Bungie made the hitboxes exactly the same in Reach where the gender actually dictated your character proportions. There's no reason they'd change this in this game, even if the character dimensions are different; just because of fair play. Hitboxes aren't defined by your character's proportions; thinner characters are always purely aesthetic in competitive shooters.

So unfair, huge advantage to females!

4 RepliesEdited by smashingbeast: 8/25/2014 2:35:47 PMI wonder if they would make an official statement about this, even though its a really small matter, an advantage won't be ignored on a competitive level.

Ya it's been a long time since a predominant shooter has had different hit boxes for character models, they are definitely the same.
