Meaning behind 343 guilty sparks name
I'm sure it has already been noticed, but 7×7×7 equals 343. I noticed when doing my homework. Bungie sure likes their 7's.

Someone made reference earlier to the biblical significance of the Chief's name and Ref#. I always looked in the book of John and neither 1:17 nor 11:7 made any sense. An earlier post made the call that perhaps it was another book written by John (such as Revelations) and I thought this pretty awesome: Rev 1:17--And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last or Rev 11:7--And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. Of course, almost anything from Revelations comes off as bad-ass.

John 117 was named such because he was the one hundred and seventeenth out of the 150 kids they chose for the Spartan II program. As for 2518, I don't remember anything of significance in that year, but I think John was borne in 2511, so he was Seven years old then?

Sorry if this doesn't relate, but I was reading about some biblical explanations. I always thought that a lot of it was an analogy for [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ark_of_the_Covenant[/url] You know, the Ark, the Covenant... clearly no coincidence. I'm sure this has been talked about before, but I'm clearly a Halo novice. It's still interesting stuff to me.

lol i think i know why they chose 117 for johns # in chemistry we were doing crap with protons and electrons and crap and i found that platinum (the most valuable metal on earth) has an atomic mass (i think it was atomic mass but not sure) was 117 which is funny because john- spartan 117 is also the most valuable spartan

You see the pattern when you look at Guilty Spark and Penitent Tangent's numbers together. 343 is 7^3 on Installation 04. 3, and 4. 2401 is 7^4, on Installation 05. 4, and 5. From there you can figure out the rest of the installations. Mendicant Bias, however, will probably have no number. There's no point in 7^-1. Installation 01's AI will probably just have 01 for a number. [Edited on 12.12.2007 8:48 PM PST]

[/quote] i dont think so.... m not sure..... if i remember correcty they were still in training.... now that i think about it that might be when they were abducted by the military at age 6 and started their training to be spartans
