Warthog faster than the Mongoose ??
Mongoose top speed : 60 mph
Warthog top speed : 78 mph (latest update)

Wartog=faster over long, straight distances Mongoose=way better acceleration, better over quick sprints If the two were in a 100 yard race, mongoose would win. It takes little time to get it started and going. If in a mile long race on a straight away, warthog would win. It has stronger engine and more weight, which means it will have more momentum. Get him going, it gains speed rapidly. which=higher top speed. so, depending on the perspective, warthog COULD be faster.

probly nobody will drive the mongoose because if the warthogs faster and still has a machine gun on it, it will most likely make a more tactical vehicle than the mongoose if it's faster and can hold 3 people [Edited on 05.17.2007 6:11 PM PDT]

The mongoose feels faster, and is still better in its current iteration in terms of survivability, seeing as it is a harder target, fits in smaller spaces, and handles better. The warthog would be faster from a realism perspective, as ATV type vehicles are powerful, but not nearly as fast as traditional jeep style vehicles. It's also much easier to slink around in the mongoose, and in 4v4 it makes a perfect system with two on a mongoose (bomb/flag) and a warthog for backup. My point is, the absolute speeds of these vehicles are fine. They really don't need tweaking, even if the warthog is faster...

You would think the Mongoose would have a boost option, like the Ghost. A little bottle of armored NO2 would balance it out, and give you a target when that bastard rolls by you carrying the flag-holder. I don't think anything would bring a tear of joy to my eye quicker than a show boat going up in a blue fireball of doom. Also, it needs a little tighter suspension, to give a little "spring" to your ride. Hah..Mongoose pun. Yeah, you can put me on the payroll, Bungie. I'll accept a check, but only if it's made out to "Cash".

[/quote] Again, it states in the update [mongoose] that all the mongoose has for protection is speed. Also note that the mongoose has a much higher power to weight ratio then the warthog; despite the smaller engine, the mongoose should easily be able to outrun the, both in acceleration and top speed. Also note that Halo 3 is a video game, and having the mongoose be a faster alternative to the warthog would make much more sense. Again, I blame Frankie for all of this.

Some guy said something, Size won't make it slower or faster, it's the engine/car wieght ratio, Or something like that. I don't care, I think MOST of us would rather rip around in a Warthog then an ATV, It's just the Halo vehicle. Warthog is halo, Even after Halo3 comes out more people will be talking about that Warthog then the mangoos. Warthog(s) FTW!

Well, the mongoose is a small ATV. The Warthog is a big futuristic car, with obviously tons of space for stuff to fill with all the engine stuff you want. /shrug

Maybe...It's the average speed, Now if there is 4 something types of warthogs, I highly dougt all of them will go the same speed. Some will go slow, some will go fast. So maybe the average is 76 (w/e he said) MPH. Also the Warthog is faster then the Ghost and Spectre. Which are alien vehciles, which have boost, and are suppost to be 500 yrs advanced. Back to the first one. The warthog with tank like treads might be really slow, The one used to tug crap would be slow (but higher torgue (spelling). The Machine Gun and Gauess would be the faster ones....Machine gun being the fastest.
