Meaning of 'For a moment of safety, I loosed damnation on the stars.'?
'For a moment of safety, I loosed damnation on the stars.' What does Cortana mean? Basically, she's saying 'for a moment of safety, I unleashed the Flood on the galaxy' but how did she release the Flood? It was Keyes and his team who released the Flood when they were looking for a weapons cache. And what is the moment of safety she refers to?
Also, what does she mean when she says 'I have defied gods and demons'?

Thanks for the replies. That really clears up the first quote. As for the second, perhaps defying demons means defying Gravemind when she was on the Flood-infested High Charity and becoming rampant.
