How much money did Bungie Studios spend to make Halo: CE?
So far the only figure I've seen is $20,000,000.

That's actually a really interesting question. I had always thought that CE was produced with a small budget and Bungie just hit the jackpot.

You would probably be better off e-mailing a Bungie employee, probably DeeJ. It would also help if you made a thread about this in the Community Forum, since it is a lot more active there and they're a tad more intellectual about these things.

That seems rather high for a 2001 game with a tiny studio. Though with MS buying them off Mac and backing the advertising for the X-Box, maybe. [Edited on 02.01.2012 4:37 PM PST]
