Why'd Bungie Sell Halo To 343?

Bungie wants to develop games for all consoles, so they completely split with Microsoft. Halo will still be made by 343i (who's executives are mostly ex-Bungie members, btw). So no, Bungie isn't necessarily better. Halo is still going to be made by the same people, just under a different name.

Bungie didn't sell Halo to 343. They sold Halo to Microsoft in 1999/2000-ish and that's why it's an Xbox Exclusive. In 2007 they signed their separation from Microsoft, but Microsoft still owns Halo, so they assigned 343 to make their games, since Bungie became independent(but soon signed with Activision.)

It's Microsoft's IP after that purchase even when they let Bungie become their own company again. 343i is an in house Microsoft development team that's tasked with continuing to put out Halo games. While it may seem like its going to be a yearly thing, I doubt that after Halo 4, we'll get Halo 5 in 2013. I think that will come out with the new Xbox in 2014. [Edited on 06.26.2011 6:03 AM PDT]

Bungie didn't sell it to 343. Microsoft has owned the rights to Halo since they bought out Bungie and still has it even after Bungie gained it's independence. Microsoft still has the rights to Halo and are allowing 343 to develop new Halo games.

Bungie isn't making Halo anymore. They are working on other things. So that's fine if you don't want anymore Halo games. Also. 343i have done nothing yet. You can't say Bungie is better unless you have seen 343i in action for yourself. And after seeing some of the gameplay on Halo CE Anniversary. I am happy to say i'm switching over pretty easily. I'll still remain a Bungie fan but at the end of the day, they aren't making Halo anymore. I'm going with who does.

what i heard is some of bungie is now at 343 will bungie wanted to make a more ambitous project a world of war craft with a halo feel type thing but microsoft said hell no keep making halo so know there going to activision soon or atleast thats what i heard
