So how many sets of it was issued to the Spartan 3's and were there any more sets of Black Armor besides the ones used by Black team? Where there any un-named spartan 2's? Ive got A LOT of questions I know but thanks for the help!

 •
Posted by: jrm6609 really 5 years after Reach?? how about 12-27-2531 thats the inception date of the spartans IIIs ? . Reach fell on August 30, 2542. you should read the book. You also due realize that none of the Spartan III's could use the mark v or vi armor as their augmentation was no where near what the II's were and would have crushed every bone in their bodies had they.
Actually we were both wrong... The S-III's were 1st introduced on Dec 27, 2532 (Ghost of Onyx p67)& Reachs final days were Aug 30, 2552 (Fall of Reach p325) Also Halsey, Fred, Kelly & Linda didn't discover Kurt was alive & the exisitance of the S-III's until Nov 3, 2552 (Ghost of Onyx starting on p229 *they are about to crash land on Onyx*) If Halsey didn't know about the S-III's until Nov 3, 2552 how are they talking to her on Reach before Aug 30, 2552? & yes I have read the books... •
Posted by: Ultramarine 360 I think only Noble Team were issued with MJOLNIR, all the other Spartan IIIs were given SPI and Head Hunter teams were given special version (VISR mode etc). If anyone doesn't know what SPI is, it stand for Semi-Powered Infiltration armour, basicly a cheap replacement of MJOLNIR. Instead of Energy Shields like the MJOLNIR Mark V and VI it had a UNSC equivelent of the Covenant Active Camo. They used this cheaper armour because when they were training the Spartan IIIs they went for quantity over quality. Also, I think Black Team were the only ones that were given MJOLNIR Black.
This....

 • 5 for Noble Team's IIIs 1 for Thom (Former Member) 3 for the Spartans Emile, Jun and Jorge replaced 29 for the Headhunter program (six 2-man teams with 17 rotational replacements) 1 for Spartan-344 (Rosenda presumably) 6 for Gauntlet Team 6 for Echo Team so, roughly 54 Spartan IIIs received MJOLNIR armour. As for black armour, I suppose Thom's armour was black and Gray Team's armour was close enough for jazz. If you are specifically talking about Black Team's armour and not the colour itself then no, Black Team are the only known Spartans to use the Skunkworks variant. And yes, there are still some Spartan IIs who's characters have not been developed and have not been named.

 • Go read the Ghost of Onyx, since S-III's were first introduced then. • Is SPI armor shielded or only the HeadHunter version which was a mix between SPI and MJLNOR?

May. 2545 Franklin Mendez SCPO, UNSCN / SPECWARCOM We've been lucky with B so far--very lucky--to get 312 out directly after training. An opportunity like that is not liable to happen ever again. And we were extremely lucky to get 320 out at all after CARTWHEEL--and I hope her luck has held up--but-- Now that I've had an opportunity to look over the data on TORPEDO, it looks like it's going to be a meat grinder on par with PROMETHEUS. No doubt we'll be able to absorb approx 1.08% total strength of the combat element directly into base personnel with this kind of OP, but there are a couple more I'd like to get out into the field early::long term deep reconnaissance--specifically 170 and 091. Even though we may be starting to push credibility with Ackerson and the rest of the grinning skulls by assigning so many of the cat 2s to non-combat roles--Ackerson has stated implicitly that he wants them all in the field--I don't believe they have any reason to complain. I do get the feeling that Ackerson would gladly assign members of his own family to a suicide mission if he could find an appropriately high value target to send them against however. So Ackerson wants his heads--and we'll give them to him--just not all of them. You know as well as I do that we wind up with some that she would have (been) chosen--not just kids unlucky enough to survive a glassing. Kurt Ambrose LCDR, UNSCN / SPECWARCOM -------------------------------------------------------------- Not only does this letter imply that Kurt was attempting to get as many of the second group of S3's (Category 2 Spartans - Group B of A,B,C - each ~300, ~900 total) into the field early and into non-combat roles to prevent them from being cannon fodder in Operation TORPEDO, but that the ones that he is putting out into the field are being armed as "Spartans", which would imply they are getting MJOLNIR Class Armor and not SPI armor. So there could be many more S3's with MJOLNIR Armor, as evidenced by the Spartans seen lying within the destroyed base grounds in Lone Wolf
Thanks! But what about the Black Armor? Not its color as other people think! It's special prototype armor. And who are his "Recon Teams"????? [Edited on 03.09.2011 4:12 PM PST]
