Melee damage bonus from stasis freeze is still multiplicative and still conflicts with One-Two Punch
Before Edge of Fate all melee bonuses were multiplicative. To balance them, some of the bonuses took priority or yield reduced bonus in the presence of other. For example, if target is frozen by stasis and One-Two Punch is present, only one bonus was applied.
In Edge of Fate all melee damage bonuses became additive instead of multiplicative. Except for one particular: melee damage bonus against targets frozen by stasis. This bonus stayed multiplicative and also retained it's conflicting behavior with One-Two Punch.
I've attached the demonstration. Some trivia:
- Base grapple damage is 389 + 389. The first number is impact damage, the second one is AoE damage. If target dies to impact, AoE number is not shown.
- Combination Blow x3 is 400% bonus. Additive.
- Combination Blow buff infuses melees with Arc. This makes grapple Arc, i.e., Light Ability. Even though grapple becomes Arc, it was specifically tuned to not work with Spirit of the Liar that is used in demo.
- Melee damage bonus against frozen targets is 120%. Multiplicative, does not work vs. bosses.
- Light Ability damage bonus against frozen targets is 5%. Multiplicative.
- Damage formula for melees is [i]base_damage * (1 + sum_of_additive_bonuses) * product_of_multiplicative_bonuses[/i]
Grapple, Combo Blow x3, frozen target:
389 * (1 + 4 [combo blow]) * 2.2 [melee frozen bonus] * 1.05 [light ability bonus] = 4492.95
Grapple, Combo Blow x3, Hand Cannon One-Two Punch, frozen target:
389 * (1 + 4 [combo blow] + 0.75 [one-two punch]) * 1.05 [light ability bonus] = 2348.5875
Grapple, Combo Blow x3, Shotgun One-Two Punch, frozen target:
389 * (1 + 4 [combo blow] + 1.5 [one-two punch]) * 1.05 [light ability bonus] = 2654.925
Grapple, Combo Blow x3, Saint's Fists, frozen target:
389 * (1 + 4 [combo blow] + 3 [saint's fists]) * 1.05 [light ability bonus] = 3267.6
As you can see, the damage is higher without One-Two Punch or Saint's Fists, because melee bonus vs. frozen is active and multiplicative. This is strange and confusing gimmick. I'd appreciate if melee bonus against frozen targets will become additive too and its conflict with One-Two Punch and Saint's Fists will be removed.
