With the final Destiny 2 update approaching on June 9th, the community is incredibly grateful for massive wins like Exotic Armor Transmog. However, leaving out the Trials of the Nine Prestige Ornaments feels like a major missed opportunity for the game's legacy.
With the "you had to be there" gatekeeping officially dismantled by the return of the Solstice 2019 sets, there is no reason to keep these amazing assets locked away forever. I would understand if this was not the final update however we cant let them be locked away forever. Many dedicated players supporting the game today literally could not play in Year 1 due to financial constraints, age, or lack of a console. To honor Year 1 veterans while still letting the current player base chase this incredible fashion, here is a fair, endgame-focused compromise for how they could drop:
Solo Master Prophecy (PvE): Give each full completion of a solo master prophecy a chance to drop one random legacy armor ornament using a knockout system. This keeps the thematic connection to the Nine alive and gives solo PvE players an ultimate endgame goal.
Flawless Trials of Osiris (PvP): Guarantee one random ornament drop upon opening the Flawless Lighthouse chest also using a knockout system. This honors the strict PvP prestige of the original armor.
With the RAD Refresh, it is clear that the development team are already opening up old code for the prophecy dungeon so why not add this one last thing that couldnt take much more time and effort.
By inserting these into existing loot tables, it requires minimal development time for the final update while giving players an incredible, high-tier chase to celebrate the end of the live-service era. Please let the art team's incredible work and legacy be celebrated and immortalised by the entire community in this final chapter. Thank you for listening, Ilook forward to the update and I hope it has been made clear just how passionate we are.
