Core Vision
Drop the numbered sequels. Create one Forever Destiny game. Focus on quality over quantity, prioritizing permanent, replayable content instead of temporary additions.
Rethink Planets
Make planets large, seamless open-world maps. These maps should serve multiple purposes for PvE, PvP, and PvPvE. Launch with 2–3 open-world planets and add a new one roughly every two years. Start with refreshed versions of the Earth, Moon and Venus, then later add Mars etc. Reuse assets from D1 and D2 to save development time and give players that comforting familiarity.
Planets should once again be one of the most exciting parts of Destiny. Keep upgrading them over time. Bring back planetary materials like Spinmetal Leaves and Helium Coils for weapon and armor perk unlocks (like in D1) so players have real reasons to return regularly.
PvE
* Story missions set in isolated sections of the large maps, combined with open-world side quests.
* Patrols, public events, lost sectors.
* Planet-specific activities (like Blind Well).
* Horde modes (like Onslaught) in dedicated areas.
PvP
* Battle Royale-style mode with a “Darkness encroaching” shrinking circle.
*Every match starts with a ship drop from orbit — you pilot your own ship and can manually control the descent. Once you get low enough, you teleport to the surface using your equipped transmat effect.
*Last team standing earns ~10× the materials gathered during the match.
*On death, you drop all gathered Loot for others to collect.
*“Big Map PvP” in restricted areas of the planets.
PvPvE (The New Gambit)
* Marathon-style extraction where you only lose gathered materials on death — not your gear.
* Successful extraction grants ~3–5 times the materials.
*Players spawn randomly on any of the fixed spawn points of the map.
Shared Mechanics for Battle Royale and Extraction Modes
* Loot found during a run is shared with the entire fireteam.
* Pull out your Ghost to see a “Temporary Activity Inventory.” On success, the team keeps everything. When the last player dies, loot drops for others.
* Dead Players still get 50% of materials if at least one Teammate wins/extracts.
* Revive fallen teammates by picking up their Ghost and taking it to a Reboot Station.
* Health as a resource (restore it using patch kits and shields).
* Supers earned only by collecting rare materials or combat — no passive regen.
* Heavy ammo as a rare resource.
* Featured weapons for winning BR or extracting (refresh each season).
* Lockbox system for extra weapon/armor loot (open after success; others can steal them on death).
Map Discovery System
Add a fog-of-war system, like in Age of Empires. Once you complete the planet’s story, explore everything, and lift the fog, you unlock PvP and PvPvE modes. This rewards map knowledge and gives completionists a real sense of achievement.
Factions
Bring back factions. Replace the artifact system with faction upgrades. Unlock perks by leveling the faction and spending season-resetting materials.
Bring Back Minimalism and Simplicity
*Remove Guardian Ranks.
*Use one unified menu (like in Destiny 1) instead of two separate ones.
*Remove the Eververse tab from the main menu as it breaks immersion (make it accessible only through the Tower, with an option in settings to toggle the tab on/off).
*Remove the Battle Pass tab from the menu (make it accessible through Eververse).
*Remove the “Portal” tab (make it selectable through the destinations screen).
*Remove the dedicated "Destinations" tab from the menu entirely. You can still open the full map while in orbit by selecting “Set Destination” (like in Destiny 1), or open the local map by holding the Ghost button during any activity, on a planet, or in any social space. This preserves all current D2 functionality with far less menu clutter. When the map is open via your Ghost, pressing D-pad Up (on controller) instantly brings up the Destinations selector.
*Restore a single “Social” tab for “Friends” and “Clans” (like in Destiny 1), with Fireteam Finder as a selectable option.
*Combine the “Quest” and “Journey” tabs into one unified “Progress” tab that also includes „Collections“. Keep the quest part the main focus of this new tab.
The end result is a streamlined total of five core tabs — exactly like Destiny 1:
Social, Progress, Character, Inventory, Settings
Overall philosophy: ruthlessly strip the UI down to only the features players actually use on a regular basis and remove everything else. Less bloat, faster navigation, and a much more elegant, focused experience.
RPG Leveling and Progression
Level up subclasses, weapons, and armor again like in D1. No more seasonal power level resets — just one permanent level. New rewarding systems should bring players back naturally. Allow sharing quest progression across characters.
Collections
Make every weapon and armor roll you’ve ever earned repurchaseable from Collections. This saves vault space and lets you use what you actually want.
Graphics and Performance
Significantly improve graphics. Return to D1’s art direction but make it even darker, with the same level of detail. Support 60 fps and 120 fps in PvP. Add dynamic weather and day/night cycles.
Other Improvements
* Bring back the original D1 Tower.
* Deliver a coherent, epic story with great onboarding — never delete content.
* Restore mystery and wonder.
* Remove Airborne Effectiveness. Increase primary weapon range and damage vs PvE enemies.
* Reduce loot showering. Make loot feel rarer, more valuable, and exciting — especially Exotics.
* No crossovers or skins from other IPs (This helps preserve the immersion and serious tone of the Destiny universe).
* Keep random rolls. No crafting.
* Dedicated servers for PvP/PvPvE.
* Bring back Sparrow Racing
* Introduce a ping and quick comms system
* Drop old console support for better performance.
Summary
“We’re trying to make Disneyland, right? And you don’t build Disneyland 2. You update it and improve it and make it more modern.” — Justin Truman
I want one Destiny that evolves forever. Planets should stay relevant long after the campaign ends. The real fun begins when the story is over and the open world truly opens up for PvE, PvP, and PvPvE. Bungie has an incredible opportunity here. Learn from Marathon, but deliver the full power-fantasy version in Destiny.
If even a large portion of this vision is implemented with high quality and minimal bloat, I would gladly support a fair subscription model to keep the game constantly improving.
This is my dream for the future of Destiny. Thank you for reading.

8 RepliesIf i wanted to play an extraction shooter or a battle royal I'd go play one. Besides destiny isn't balanced for it and they won't put that time into gambit or even regular pvp. Battle royal mode is definitely a miss.
