You Killed Destiny 2
Bungie,
Whatever little respect the community still had for Destiny 2, you managed to destroy completely. The reputation of this game is in ruins because of your greed, your tone-deaf decisions, and your absolute failure to respect the players who carried this franchise for years.
Destiny 2 used to mean something. It used to bring people together, create memories, and feel alive. Now it’s nothing but a hollow shell, dragged down by recycled content, broken systems, lazy storytelling, and a complete disregard for the people who actually play it.
You’ve turned excitement into disappointment, loyalty into frustration, and hope into pure anger. Every so-called “update” feels like another nail in the coffin. Instead of rebuilding trust, you’ve buried it deeper.
The grind is unbearable, the narrative is a mess, and your promises mean absolutely nothing anymore. The community feels ignored, betrayed, and drained. You’re not delivering a game — you’re draining the life out of it, and out of us.
This isn’t just frustration. This is the sound of a community that’s fed up. You’ve burned through the last of your goodwill. If you care at all about Destiny’s legacy, stop treating it like a cash machine and start treating it like the universe we once loved.
Right now, all you’ve proven is that you’re capable of taking something great and running it straight into the ground.
The community deserves better. Way better.

Usually I would find everything from 10-15 online when I come home after work to play, and that was before this season started. Now there is like 5-6 online. It’s dying a slow death. Edit: it’s actually worse than I thought, 1 was on today….out of 70 clan members.

8 RepliesLet this be a lesson learned by all parties affiliated with this game. Bungie is being dissolved into Sony because of their own mismanagement and all the things OP mentioned plus some. And to the players, who failed to speak with their wallets and constantly threw money at the screen regardless of how poor the content or lack thereof became. The minute Bungie proclaimed "making content is hard" should have been the minute the players said so is parting with my money. But alas, here we are...

Totally agree. I would prefer everything saved from right before EoF and then calling EoF Destiny 3. But you can do a cross save to upload your stuff in the beginning and choose how you play. That way you: keep D2 cool and enjoy all the best parts, and D3 can implement everything without destroying what made it fun. Currently, we are just left disappointed in all things that has been done...

1 ReplyMan I HATE EoF. I wish they didn't change it from how it was. Even Curse of Osiris' campaign was 10 times better than this garbage. I hate the portal, the armor and weapon system, everything. If tomorrow's TWAB doesn't outline massive changes, I'm done after ten freaking years.

1 ReplyThey did it intentionally . this game has never been this bad to play . stuck at 409 waiting until next week to get a few more from zavala. they just made the game no fun to play with all the modifiers ,to grindy and no drops, it makes you not care and play other games. I'm now playing battlefield mostly,cause this game is cooked.

But their corporate greed and lack of vision killed it. All the dumb grinding, gear sunsetting, lack of engaging and meaningful content, sterilized the game better than a thousand nukes. It's a wasteland of dead potential. Boring and stale. Until they reverse most of the portal mechanics, this nonsense of everything being a timed GM, how stingy they are with loot and vault space, I'm done with the game.

2 RepliesTotally agree, everyone is now funnelled to the portal with a sole focus of grinding power. Pre EoF armor and weapons (both exotic and legendary) have been sidelined, vendors have been gutted, locations and public events are empty, the game is a hollow shell of what it used to be.

And even if I bought "Year of Prophecy," I didn't engage with the narrative on Kepler, the portal, or power leveling. I only finished the reward pass. Predominant with bounties from planetary vendors. You don't need "Year of Prophecy" for that. And also no other DLC in the future. Bungie exaggerated it exorbitantly, and for that they "pay" the price now. Probably also with Marathon and their reputation they have built. Edit: I have played this game since it was released on Battle.net. And to preorder a new DLC was a matter of course for years! But what really bothered me was the callousness of Bungie doing his daily work. Buffs and nerfs, again and again. Recycling. Sunsetting. The Destiny Content Vault. And the fairy tales. On and on. I ignored all of that. With a lot of goodwill. But doing this further is impossible, not with them just going on like that. Bungie needs to come clean, or they're done.

They have done everything they can to destroy this game. The grind is crazy, it should be easier with the true grind being for tier 5 gear, it would make so much more sense. They have removed everything they can too, all the vendors and destination weekly activities are all gone, these so could have brought us in to help with the grind and keep players invovled. To me these were a bit of fun made us change our game play with different weapons and requirements. They have made the game a solo only game with the ops and grind, I used to do strikes for fun the pathfinder and weekly rewards but now it all seems so meaningless, yeah some were annoying but they mixed up the game play for us. They seem to determined to kill the game by removing everything they can from vendors, bounties and FUN.

Bungle Studios has demonstrated time and time again that they have a major problem and it’s a “skill issue”. From the leadership making absolutely horrible decisions down to the devs and their inability to put out an update that actually works as intended. Getting caught stealing other artists designs time and time and time again, gutting the Quality department while keeping the absurdly high salaries of the toxic leadership, not listening to their players and choosing to fix the most random issues that have no meaning, the laziness with their expansions and driving us to play only a handful of events just to level up. They can’t even rotate other past strikes, lost sectors and strikes. It’s pure laziness on their part. The TWID last week is yet another example of how to piss off your paying customers. Overall the studio is a joke and the game has become stale and empty….

100% agree, Game has moved away from being for the non-streamer / YouTuber players, other players are leaving in droves, my Clan is down to just a few members that play at all namely for the reasons listed above. I stopped asking friends to get D2 because they all said what we're experiencing now, "I want to play the game, not spend so much time in menus so that I can play a game", You my friends have lost your way for the majority of the player base.

It is sad to see the state of the game at the moment, it amazes me that there are still people out there defending the levelling changes and clandestine sunsetting, there is so much content in the game and rather than focus on making everything more rewarding and accessible to boost engagement by increasing the fun factor, they've went in completely the opposite direction, it's hard not to see this as deliberate self sabotage at this point considering the continued lack of any kind of acknowledgment, I often see people saying steam is only a small portion of the player base therefore it can't be used as an accurate measure of how things are actually going....I think everyone will realise soon enough, "dying" describes things perfectly. The steam chart "ECG" clearly shows, these are the last breaths. You don't come back from this without a jolt. Minor tweaks and ignoring the major issues will not be enough.

9 RepliesKilling Destiny was their intent. No, not everyone, but definitely certain members of upper management and perhaps even senior developers. First, Bungie seems to have a dislike of sequels. There were people that didn't want to make a sequel to Halo, and it was the studios biggest success to that point. Consider the cost and the effort required to Desinty up and running. Them trying to find something that could replace the game... MATTER. GUMMY BEARS. MARATHON. Makes sense.
